As some of you may already know, I'm an actor. Last night I opened in a new play by John Patrick Shanley (Oscar winning author of "Moonstruck") called "Dirty Story" about middle Eastern conflicts. The play is a satiricalpoliticalallegory in which each character represents a country. The two main characters (Palestine and Isreal) are novelists who end up sharing an apartment (the Holy Land). The other two characters are a Cowboy andhis Bartender sidekick(who representBush and Blair respectively). I'm playing Dubya! Which brings me to why I'm posting thishere... The other day I was telling my director about the "When Bush Comes To Shove" concert and about a new protest song that is going to be a centerpiece of it. I told him about some of the lyrics and thatI had this song, brought it in the next day and played it for him. I'm happy to announce that "Lonely Soldier" is now playing a prominent role in our show! Having Damo"onstage" with meevery night and knowing that all the folks in the audience (most of whom it's safe to say haveprobablynever heard him)are hearing this song gives me such a rush. I've just finished a run of "Proof" (as Hal) last monthand had Damo backstage on my headphones every night rightbefore the show started. I also had pictures of him, my girlfriend andGary Oldman hanging backstage in my changing area to furtherinspire me as a performer. Come to think of it, I'd just heard"Lonely Soldier"early on in that run and I remember having it stuck in my head so much that I was singing it the whole time I was running around up and down stairs outside to preparefor the scene where I run in allout of breath! No singer since Sinatra has inspired me so much as an actor. |

I still havn't heard this song. But I keep hearing alot about it, especially now with it being part of "When Bush comes to Shove". I want to hear it so bad, they need to hurry up and release the single and let me get my grubby fingers on it.

I search for it all the time but can never find it. I bet if I used those torrents I'd have it by now. But I'm on dial-up, so no way.

Thanks wheels, But I already streamed that bit. It's just that people have been talking about this song for a few months now, as if damo maybe played it at a show at some point.

Oh you wanted the full song? I'm sure he has played it at gigs... he has rewritten bits to make it about George for this release I think.

Well I certainly like the soloversion I've got! It'll be quiteinteresting to hear the two new studioversions. Oh, and here's a shortreview that came out yesterdayof our production!: Dirty Story @ Mapleleaf Theater What: A relationship between an elder male writer and an idealistic young woman turns kinky, then veers into edgy geopolitical cartoon. The Ohio premiere of one of this season's most memorable, unpredictable comedies. Reasons to go: John Patrick Shanley's red-hot provocation of a script boasts brilliantly daring writing -- it's razor-sharp and continually surprising. Geoff Griggs convinces as literary lion Brutus, whose audacious tactics turn wide-eyed Wanda (Marlene Kelly) from victim to vampy villain. Doug Rossi's unforgettable, swaggering cowboy Frank - an Uncle Sam archetype by way of George W. - will render you helpless with laughter, with Mike Kelly as his droll British sidekick. Go plenty early to sample:it's performed in the idyllic outdoor amphitheater of a vineyard 50 minutes east of the city. The contrast between bucolic setting and outrageous content is mind-blowing -- and utterly delightful. Edited by: Spamlet |

I'm from Cleveland, Ohio. Interesting fact about the theatre itself: it's the only theatre that operates at a working vinyard.Edited by: Spamlet |
