Compare with Good Feeling and The Man Who, 12 Memories is the one to forget in my opinion. Their new song was a let down anyway. I like Tavis, got nothing against Travis fan but I thought their new stuffs are missing something! |

It definitely takes some growin' on ya, I thought it was a big letdown at first, but now I think it's pretty cool. I don't have "The Man Who" so I can't compare it to that, and it's a lot different than Invisible Band, so ya, not their best probably, but still decent.

I have The Man Who and Invisible Band. Liking those albums won't mean you like 12 memories...the style of albums are very different. 12 memories is very melancholy and dark and brooding. The instrumentation sounds different too...not light and poppy like or like the others...very minimalistic. But after a couple of spins it is my favorite of Travis' albums because it is also very mature.Of the 11 songs (and the hidden track) there are only 3 that I find to be less then great (which is less then Invisible Band). My favorites are Somewhere Else and Walking Down Hill currently. You can listen to the whole album from their website... www.travisonline.com so judge for yourself. Also, check out my full review in the archives of my newsletter (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bandmls) and sign up for it if you like it. KMAC

12 memorys was written differently to the other albums Fran said. He said that on the other albums he wrote all the songs on acoustic guitar and took them to the band, this time he started with different instruments like drums or piano and the whole band were there to mould and structure them! I think the vocals really shine on that album and it is my favourite Travis album. The man who is AMAZING though

I sat in the drawing office at my school the entire day and one from my class had put the new travis album on repeat the entire day. It's too slow and sappy for my taste. I like the two first albums much much better.
The bonus track on The Man Who is called Blue Flashing Light... Good song. |
