I think that's partly true. Still, there are some songs on '9' that really stand out
and set him apart from other singer-songwriters (fe. Elephant). But then again,
I know what you're saying. I don't really feel like this record is the best he can
do. Accidental babies may be the best example. It could've been a much better
song than it is now. In fact: it could have been one of my favorite songs ever.
But somehow the magic of it seems to have been lost somewhere during the
recording process. It's just so slow and doesn't touch me the way the earlier
live versions did. And a song like 'Coconut Skins' - well, I like it, but it feels
more like a b-side to me than a track that should be on an actual album.
