Hmmmm... ~Looks over at Miss Pink~ Blimey, if you're here, who's running hell? ~Grins 'n' winks~ But... to lighten the mood a little bit... Childish - pretty self explanatory really... I like to think that he sings this song to himself when he realises he's been in a sh*te mood, such as when he tells people to shut up. Really gives me the impression that he's someone who can realise when he's being an arsehole Edited by: mattbeswick |

Miss Pink - when I saw Damien in Sheffield earlier this year someone yepped out 'Tell us a story'. It just happened to be right before he played 'Baby Sister', which was... interesting. Everyone went from being quite happy and jolly to being ultimately depressed as he told the story of someone's dad going out and getting drunk, then coming in and beating the hell out of either the boy, or the girl. Horrid story, fantastic song. |

~Nods~ There was also something in there about their mother moving away / dying when they were young - not quite sure which one of the two though. So... ~Ponders~ What's your interpretation of 'Sand'? |

Personally, I think it's one of the more 'depressing' songs, even though it's got a faster tempo and sounds happier. Suppose everyone's been where he seems to be when he wrote that. Seems like he's loving someone, but they're giving nothing back. They're pretending, but not doing a very good job of it, and even though he knows, he's too scared to do anything about it... |

Yeah Pink, that very same line in "Older Chests" was reallyresonating withme in the last few months, because my mom died recently but this friend of mine from childhood showed up and helped me fix things around my house andwas just kind and supportive in general. I always think of him when Damien sings that line. It's amazing how one person's eloquent expression of a feeling can hold so much meaningto so many different people. 'Amie' has something in, that we could compare to 'Eskimo'...in my opinion the "to look at someone (Amie, come sit on my wall --"sitting on top") who you respect a lot and that person can cheer you up" thing. But that's just one bit in this song and I guess there's much more than that...
