Default New Album - "9" - Confirmed

We can now confirm that Damien's second album is to be called "9" and it will be released this year. The release date that Play.com have is not yet confirmed, as they have kinda jumped the gun on this. The date will differ amongst different countries.

You heard it here first!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

...But I won't be satisfied until I'm looking at the album art while I'm listening to the album

It figures that he would circumvent expectations with the title itself and at the same time confirm them. Who expected a one number title to follow his one letter title? Yet, of course, his obsession with including the number "9" in his songs continues.

So what songs to do think the nine could refer to?

My hope is Wooden Horse: " 'Cause you build a thousand walls All you need is nine"

Where have I heard that before? Possibly from some underwater guy who controlled the sea or something.

"Yes", he said "Interesting, isn't it? You'll notice that seven is the one I left out".

I asked him "So then is referencing the number nine a conscious thing?". He said "Mmm. Maybe it's a superconscious thing".

Great news indeed, I never thought it be released so soon after what was written here about the february possible issue....
As it seems we'll have at least 3/4 different release dates, possibly for Ireland, UK, Europe and US/rest of the world... that shouldn't be a big deal anyway, because I'm quite sure everyone will be easily able to get a copy from the web if doesn't want to wait the days or months before the record is available in his country.
i think I'll do it this way, will buy it from ebay or some irish online dealer... who knows when it will hit the shelves here in Italy!
I'd be glad if it'll be available on vinyl LP, but I think I can settle with the cd too, after all this waiting..
I like the title by the while, though I think i'm one of the few here who hasn't heard any of the new songs yet... No live performances here in Italy of course, and no money enough to arrange to come there in Dublin for the recent shows, even if I'd have loved it.. Surfing on the forum I heard some of you talking about an "electric" and kind of "angry" turn of new songs' mood and, I have to say, it doesn't make me sad at all.. we'll see anyway.
The only thing that I regret about such a close release date is the fact that the maybe he'll pass all next spring touring around for promotion.
Sinceunted to come there in Ireland for an entire month on september 2007 I really hoped to catch him around somewhere for a gig, but at this point I do not know if he'll be around until autumn...
I hope he will do some dates in Italy too, so that at least I'll be able to see him live here.. That would be my first damien show!
Ok, I wrote too much... It must be the enthusiasm of the news

I don't think that there'd be someone around being THAT suicidal, really (to go and spread a hoax like this).

ah the album, finally. it'll make a nice pre-birthday present
That really saved me as it means there's something to hold onto when school starts again on monday. At least something useful along those weeks.
I should better not focus on that one but keep smiling at my display, I suppose.
Not too difficult when I come to think of it.
Not after these news, anyway

what is there to come after letters and numbers? shapes? But a cirlce surely is a bit like an o? well, no, I know not quite but..well.
or a mixture of letters and numbers. I was going to suggest sounds as well, but it's a bit difficult to put a sound on a cover, isn't it?

I think I'm still in that strange mood. Otherwise I would be sensible and go to bed or read a book or something. And not creating conspiracy theories along the way

He left out 7... and referencing 9 is a 'supercounscious' thing? Hmm... which journo will be first to get a half logical answer on this one do you think?

No offense but... what if he was just being sarcastic? I mean, many artists often get their songs over-interpreted, and Damien is indeed one of them. What if you just brought something that he, who writes the songs, never actually thought about. Maybe he just told himself "fcuk, where did this guy pick this up?" and replyed "you'll notice that I left the number 7 out too" in a sarcastic way, only to play your game of overinterpretation. As if he said "yeah, you'll notice that the word Cannonball has two double letters in it". And ironically, you overinterpreted his comment too.

Please don't get angry bout my comment, it's just a different point of view.

I mean, I've read on this forum loads of interpretations of some songs that went wayyy to deep (I think). Damien said it many times, he writes a song on what his feelings are at this very moment. I don't think he thinks of the second meaning of the cousin of this word in latin. I actually think that the Blower's Daughter was about the Blower's daughter and the fact that he realised he was not the hero in her skies, and not about some weird 3 pages explanations I've read previously. Remember 'O', he said that it came out when he was on a bike, and then he thought of mistakes that we do and redo again as if we're going in circles. Still, many people thought that there was some kind of hidden message behind 'O'.

Then again, I might be wrong, just as I think you are
See ya
