danke schön. my teachers also thought i was good at it but the truth is i never feel i can say exactly what i want in german cause i lack the appropreate vocabulary and GRAMMAR! (I MEAN, GERMAN HAS THE GRAMMAR FROM HELL!!!) to actually speak my mind danes have this strange relationship to germany, i think most people sort of recents german and germany... actually think it goes way back to being occupied by nazi germany in ww2, we've never fully forgiven germany for that,(well, that and that damned grammar...) which is a great shame, i think. especially since we are neightbours and all. i came to love german when i watched 'die tweite heimat' about 12 years ago or so - one of the greatest film experiences i've ever had!

you mean there is still a distrust? I've never seen die zweite Heimat! maybe i should... i know what you mean, i can't really say what i want in english! and my dänisch could be better too!

yeah, distrust is a good word for it. stoopid prejudice, really. but i'm out of the closet: I LOVE ZE GERMANS! (i'm even 1/4 german cause my grandfather was a german soldier posted here during ww2 and he had a bit of sweet dänisch lovin' with my grandma )

Wie bist du denn auf Damien Rice bzw. dieses Forum hier gekommen? thanks for all the kind greetings!
@hannah650: it's right! I will do what I can!

ja, that's the one, by edgar reitz. (sorry gonna give the old german a rest today i'm afraid - i did understand what you wrote though) i never saw the first series even though it was re-run recently every friday afternoon but i never seemed to have time to watch it at that time the second one is amazing - get it if you possibly can! a masterpiece! have you heardthat he's working on a third one? that would just be f**king fantastic! don't know if it takes 10 years to produce too - in that case might have to wait a bit..Edited by: cillecille

Cille, there already IS a third part! http://www.spiegel.de/spiegel/0,1518,320222,00.html I've read that the TV episodes of it will be aired from December 15th on. Haven't watched any of the Heimat yet. Just read the article in the last weeks and got interested a bit... Oh, and I just got the info that they will publish all three Heimat parts here on DVD (I: 5 DVD, II: 7 DVD, III: 3 DVD) at the end of the year. Edited by: Hendrik |

Sorry - I forgot! I'm glad to hear something about the second series. I was always wondering how that was. What can I say - the first one is the only one I know and it is brilliant! I hadn't seen it in 15 years or so and I was blown away how captiviating the whole thing was yet again. Get it/watch itif you can!

Thanks for the link, Hendrik. They didn't seem that enarmoured with the second part, eh? Did you see part II? If so, how did you like it?
