What a gig! Well impressed!

Got 1 video on my camera last night and it was of the bit in Older Chests when Damo forgot the words (twice). I compressed it and uploaded it if you want to have a look. Sorry for the text across the video but hadn't got any full video editing software.

Enjoy... http://www.cheeurs.com/damienrice.avi

You may want to right click and click save target as!

Oh no, Dave! I can listen to it but not see the vid, they tell me I need up-to-date "codec" (not sure thats the right word in English), which - I checked - I have to pay for.

The sound is great though, thanks!!

You need to download .avi codecs. I think you can find them for free.

Video is not that great cause it was dark. At least you've got the sound... that's the main thing.

Patricia, you'll never get any of those 'codec' messages or problems if you download the VLC player at:

http://download.videolan.org/pub/vid...0.7.2/win32/vl c-0.7.2-win32.zip

For those of us who can't download *kicks computer* what'd he say? That has to be one of the worst things that can happen to a performer...

Argh, yes!

But at least he was performing alone, so he could stop and start again.
Whereas when you sing with your band, the rule is: never stop, whatever happens.

Once I ended up singing on my own because our drummer had lost one of his sticks and the guitarists were confused! But then they all started playing again together again, all at once... it had quite an effect! (but yes, we suck at a band)

The second verse where he starts off "older gents sit on the fence....." he forgets the line "children scream or so it seems...." and then just starts sort of humming then stops and goes "Hmm!" And everyone laughs and cheers. Then he says something about cleaning out/coming out of the vacuum a few days ago. Then he starts again "Take two, second verse" and messes up in exactly the same spot!! But the crowd helps him along by singing the line for him and he picks it up.... and the people recording say "Needs some help. We all seem to need the help...." and laugh. This made me laugh right out loud! It was cute!!

actually i dont think it necessarily has to be that bad... i mean, it can be embaressing and you sort of lose control over the song and the situation, but it lightens the situation, and if you're able to accept and use that as a performer, it can lead to a great unexpected experience to all.

btw, thanks for sharing, dave!cute laugh you have!Edited by: supercille

Yeah, but when you're standing there looking at the gap in your brain where the words used to be... Thats scary as hell. Even if you keep it together and laugh it off there's the moment of sheer horror when you get stuck.Funny for everyone else though .
