Distorting vocals

Hey

I was just wondering if anyone knew wot damien rice uses to distort his vocals on some tracks , the blowers daughter for example.

does he use a speacial mic or some kind of effects unit or anything?

he uses a special mic on Volcano... I'm not sure what kind though.

Yeah,

Isaw it on the PBS show Austin City Limits, it looked like some kind of cheapie mic that hey just drove over with his powerful vocals.....

Cool distortion, he has an array of stomp boxes as well.......

he does use an effects pedal on his vocals...

it is a special short wave mic crushing the waves at a quicker pace. a pedal is also used i believe to distort his voice more. x

Yup...could just be overdriven with the stomp box.

peter frampton and the guitarist from Bon Jovi (4got his name) use this also. You can actually buy this nifty stomp box. Free Speech Talkbox by Danelectro is kind of like it. I think his is more of a homemade version, since it has nifty tape on it [img]smileys/smiley1.gif[/img]
