Another new member
Hi there!
What can I tell ya? I mean, I think many of us had this one experience like I had (or at least similar ones with the same outcome...). I went out for a drink with some of my colleagues and they played one of Damien's songs in this pub - I immediately knew which CD I'd have to get next... A bit about myself... Erm, I'm from Austria, grew up in the most western county (quite close to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany) and live now in Vienna and am working here. The question is just how long I'm gonna stay here. I think there are gonna be some changes quite soon. Music's one of the things that keeps me alive... I can't imagine spending one day without it. And I'm always hungry for new stuff. So, if you can recommend anything, please let me know Does anyone of you know by chance if Damien's gonna be at this one gig by the frames in Vienna in November? I don't recon he's gonna be there, but if I'm still here I'll be there, of course... |

do they say 'moin' in austria too? in one of the few really distinctive danish dialects 'sønderjydsk' spoken by people at the danish/german border they say 'mojn' instead of hej (hi/hello).
grüss gott!

Not really... noone say's "moin" (only if they twit some german ppl. or their language...)
Besides that there are more ways to say "hi" or "hello". "Grüß Gott" is more or less old fashioned, I mean, you also use it when you greet someone very politely and you just use it for saying "hello". Good bye means "Auf Wiedersehen" (politely). In Vienna the colloquial way to say "hi" is "servus", "hallo", "grüß dich", "hey". Yes that's more or less it. In Vorarlberg, where I grew up ppl. talk a complete different language to the standart German (close to the dialect they talk in Switzerland). So, there they say "hoi", "heile", "zeawas", "grüaß di", "hoi du". Yes, that's more or less it. Maybe I forgot something but I think that's enough anyway. So children, that's it so far for today. Tomorrow we proceed with a different topic.

Last edited by Hendrik; 10-14-2005 at 05:02 PM. |

Was machst du denn da in England? Auslandszivildienst? Freiwilliges soziales Jahr?...

I'm stuck in Vienna in an office and got nothing to do right now. So I'm just surfing a bit in the internet, later on I'm gonna have a look in monster.ie again. Maybe I'll find a job, you never know...
