Predict first single off 9!!!
A single should be sent to radios anyday now!! promotion has to start ASAP!!!! Something will be sent to radios soon, even if it's an official single or if it's just a promo single- meaning, sent to radios but not released physically.
So, supposing that the first single is wanna be one of the songs we know so far, which one do you think would be better?????? So we have quite a lot to choose from including the new newies (Rat in the grain, Accidental babies, Coconut skins), not-that-new songs that he's been playing in the US tour this summer (Blower's daughter 2, Grey room, 9 crimes, my yoke, Rootless tree...) and older tracks like Face, Insane, Tongue, Baby sister, Childish, Then Go... So what do u reckon?? IMO, the perfect first single would be GREY ROOM!!!!!!! I love this song and I like how it starts slow and gets higher and more intense as the song progresses!!!!!!!! |

Nine crimes!!!! Nine crimes!! Please, please, please nine crimes...
Unfortunately I think it more likely that Blowers Daughter 2 will be it. |

i think hot press were here again earlier... they took your list of new songs in the same order...
--- Damien Rice has confirmed details of his long-awaited follow-up to the multi-platinum O. Fresh from curating the Big Tree area at the Electric Picnic festival, Rice has confirmed that in keeping with his minimalist style of album naming, it will be called 9. Initial reports suggest it may very well be out on 6 November in the UK, but the official date is yet to be confirmed. The album, his second, is likely to feature songs Damien has been airing live, which include 'Rat In The Grain', 'Accidental Babies', 'Coconut Skins', 'Blower's Daughter 2', 'Grey Room', '9 Crimes', 'My Yoke' and 'Rootless Tree'. Talking of Damien's live performances, a surprise set at the Hudson Hotel in New York last weekend (September 15) was introduced by none other than Bono. The pair were in New York to help promote the ONE campaign to Make Poverty History and Edun, the ethical clothing company run by Bono's wife Ali Hewson. Introducing Damien, the U2 frontman said: "What you're about to hear and see is like being at a Bob Dylan gig in the early Sixties." "He's really a remarkable talent, I can't quite believe that he's here. I'm very humbled and very honoured and I would ask New York to give him the kind of welcome only New York, only Manhattan can, and then give him the silence he deserves because this is something very special." Damien performed to an intimate audience of just 200 people, including supermodels Helena Christensen and Christy Turlington, Smashing Pumpkins' James Iha and actress Heather Graham. |

I'd say maybe something like Sand, Grey Room or Bottom Shelf. IT would be funny if it was Childish with him being a trumpet but i think it's unlikely. Could be Accidental Babies though seing as it was one he tried to keep people from recording.

"Rat In The Grain" is the same as "Want to be Wanted?," right?
Don't you think that Blower's Daughter 2 is too predictable a choice for a first single for Damien to actually go through with it? I agree with you, Emelie, on 9 Crimes. I think it would sound great on the radio.

is it legal to do that, I mean, go to some forums and cut and paste something that someone else wrote?? The funny thing is that I was too tired to type the whole thing and just typed My Yoke, and that's what they reported

I guess it's gonna be "nine crimes", I haven't heart all his new songs yet but usually the single has to be something not to difficult (like accidental babies -> a beautifull song but i don't think it is music for people who don't yet know damien) So I guess it's gonna be something like nine crimes

Am I the only one thinking that Sand sucks? He started the show in Quebec City with it and it felt like a "B" song. Like Bottom shelf and the other songs that feels just like lyrics on music instead of a song. My two cents.

I thought it was kind of weird that the 'My Yoke' short name got carried over! Clear evidence, if you ask me.
Could very well be illegal. There is a clear statement at the bottom of the homepage that ALL content is copyrighted to EskimoFriends.com. This would include discussion in the forums. Hot Press, you taking notes?

We should start a thread saying that the single is called "Elephant arse" or something and talk about it and see if they steal that

Ok...not too sure about this, as I haven't had a chance to speak to her yet, but a message from a friend (In Leeds, if that affects the possible radio stations) had this in it.
"oooo, and I just heard Damien Rice's new single on the radio and guess what it happens to be??!!! Nine Crimes!!!! It's stunning as well." So yeah...no idea what to make of this yet, I'm very tempted to ring her. Is that a bit obsessive? |

fool, don't be a fool and call her!
i'd love for "rootless tree" to be the single lol, but i doubt that will happen... no one wants a radio version where he yells "muck you" instead of "f*ck you" or just rewords it. ps. bottom shelf and sand are GREAT songs!

If nothing's confirmed it by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give her a ring then. It's 10pm, she'll probably be sleeping.
I'm guessing she's made some kind of mistake, but I can't see why she would, she knows the song, she's sung the song a million times, etc etc. Oooh the suspense. |
