have you seen factory girl??...It's a movie all about her... with Sienna Miller! she was one of Andy warhol's superstars!... he made a bunch of underground fims with her and became an icon of fashion and 'celebrity' i guess in the late 60's... She was famous for doing nothing! ... Oh and apparently she also was the inspiration for some Bob dylan song... i dunno maybe Vieenrose can tell ya better! Quote:
she's a good example of the poor little rich girl (pun intended ) looking for some sorta family i guess!!!!... and it all went wrong!!! ... but Warhol ... now that's an amazing and veeery weird creature! ps... I'm soo jelause...... The greek sure sounds like an amazing show!!!!!!!!!

alright ill break it down here...edie sedgwick's family was total american upper class. one of her relatives signed the declaration of independence but her family was extremely messed up. her brother killed himself and it is rumored that her father molested her. she went to art school and then moved to new york where she met andy warhol and he was very moved by her and put her in many of his movies and she became a big part if andy's factory scene (which is why she is called factory girl) She got caught up in the drug scene, shooting barbituates and the such but andy was not into drugs like that. So that was the first rift in their relationship. Next, she was rumored to be dating bob dylan and andy and him definately did not get along. Andy was jealous and she ended up choosing andy over dylan. she fell deeper into drugs...spent all of her money on it...started a fire in the chelsea hotel...she was out of control. Andy and the rest of the factory shut her out. she couldnt get work (she modeled) and fell apart. she moved back to california...got clean and married. but she relapsed, overdosed, and died at 29. a lot of people believe andy was possessive and eventually ruined her (dont worry mariaoran i dont blame him!) she is known for her style (black tights, huuuggee eyelashes, silver hair, and shoulder length earings), her bizarre and low voice, and is called the first 'it' girl. and yes, she is definately a poor little rich girl.
whewww that was the short version! YES!!! the greek was definately amazing |

Wow, what an incredible story. I have only read brief articles about Edie, and I had no idea her life was so...hmmm...complicated and dramatic!
And welcome LaVieEnRose Nice to hear you were able to make it to the Greek I wish I would've been there! |

Hey! I'm new too, although I've been reading the boards for over a year now! But I thought I'd actually join now! The board seems like a really nice place!
Been a fan since the first moment I heard O, in 2003, but I've never been able to see him live before, until this Friday when I'm going to the Cardiff date! |
