Whats the problem?! This always happens with artists!
I can assure you that I was one of the first ppl who liked the stereophonics and travis before they made it big (just shows you how crap they are now!). Lets all bee thankfull that Damien is now having the chance to let his music be heard by all. If I get on the bus and here giggling school girls talk of his music then I will probably turn around and smile. Just be proud that you were there first, as I can assure you that when he hits the big time, you'll love him even more Stuart |

Hi, im probably one of the last people you wnat to talk to becuase i only discovered damein rice last week and i could fit into the schoolgirl catagory, but i just want to say i have been sooo bleesed to have discoverd damien, i only wish i had heard about him earlier, i have missed so many great gigs and its eating me up but it doesnt matter if someone heard him years ago or just discovered him the important thing is that a talent like that is not hidden, he deserves to be known he is the best singer/songwriter i have heard in years, his songs simply make my spine tingle! ye will always be the people whoknew him first take pride in that i only wish i could say the same for myself,a new fan, Rice_Crispy* |

He hasn't hit it big in America, and I don't think he will for some time, if ever. I'm getting a few of my friends into him, but his music is very hard to find over here. So I guess if his success bothers you, you can just come over to the US. Just out of curiosity, how commercial is Damien Rice over across the seas now? |

Well I hate artists that get well know sign a contract with a major and try to produce some good stuff for their new masters. But first of all I don`t think that Damien is gonna sell out. I do not believe that money could make him lose his ground. Afterall if he gets a little more recognition in Europe perhaps he`ll make a little tourand even come to switzerland! that would be great but also it would be hard for me. because if he gets better known people will tell me about that guy called Damien Rice who is so great. And I hate all those stupid Brownnoisers. well at least a have to say I am glad to see that in my country (switzerland)I`ve met no Rice fan till now! Rodrigo |

That must be great! i was very pissed off at the olympia gig in dublin because as you well put it "brownnosers" just laughed at him for the sake of laughing and it really pissed me off as these people probably dont have the same feeling for it as i do. i know each feeling is unique that he gives off but being a loyal fan and seeing all these new people jumping on the bandwagon kinda pissed me off... im getting used to the idea that he wont just be our little gem. that most of the population of europe will be exposed to his talent and ill be able to say "i was there first" sorry for rambling

Jeweller: The problem to me is that all those guys who get someone after he`becomes a rising star, and then they tell me how great he is but me I know that his music will never mean the same to them as it means to me. I mean, You can call me paranoid but till know i`ve only show his sound to one very near person, somewhat makes me aware what may come if i show it to more people, it will be like one or two weeks later people comming to me intoducing this great musician oh and telling me how much he means to them and five minutes later thay will be tellin me about creed or 3 Doors Down or such a sh*t and I'll look at them and say oh you poor bastard go away from me please! Hey've to say you Irish guys do know how to make great sound! I mean Damo, Gemma Hayes (saw her live, an increable woman), Prayer Boat (i guessI've to say Emmet), The Frames, Paddy and last but not least my all time fave Jeff Buckley had also Irish roots (way, way back in his family history). i fall into the school girl (giggling or otherwise) category too. although i think all those band wagon jumpers are a bit sad, if damien being popular means more singles, albums and gigs then it can hardly be a bad thing. |

the best thing about music is that some f**kin bog savage who cant play a note of music thinks he owns the music he likes or wanks to on the weekends, but alas the music is not his. Just because ya like an artists music is no right to be annoyed because they have gained popularity, i think thats what they call good tunes that appeal to people therefore they will buy the cd or go see a show. The uniqueness and self centerdness of i discovered this and that artist is a load of sh*te. A million artists would give there right arm for being an independent self owned popular music artist that damien rice has become. The best thing about it is that damiens music is his and not mine/ours. go and create yer own then get annoyed. fair play to ya Dara

hello everyone, as much as we would like to keep damo as our little secret.....it cant happen, nor should we want it to. What i find is that anyone who likes him.....REALLY likes him...and the way i look at it is ...if you like damo then you cant be all bad! What we should be grateful for is that artists such as the great man, the Frames, gemma hayes etc. can do their stuff and still make a living! this shows that (despite what the evil Louis Walshe would have) there are lots of people still out there with taste! long may their rise continue.... even if it means they become a little more commercial......thgey have to live too and deserve all the benefits their talent deserves! |

Well, the only reason I'm worriedif hebecomes too popular is that he'll stop playing so many Ireland gigs, and as most of us know that would be a huge shame. Yet, I've given Damo's album to6 people since it came out. All 6 people bought it. It's that powerful. They grow up soo fast!
