I don't know if it'll be possible to top my experience from her last gig at the Gramercy a few months ago, but I'm certainly going to try!
Thanks for posting this. |

My tickets should be arriving in the mail within the next two days. I'm getting so excited! Everything about Lisa's show at this same venue a few months ago was simply perfect, so this will be a treat. I'm strongly hoping that they have chairs set up again so I can snag front row, rather than having it be standing admission only. It made for much more of a subdued atmosphere that blended perfectly with the music.

I'm so depressed. I live right next to the Gramercy (college) and I won't be able to go to Lisa's concert this week because I've got class on Friday (and no one to go with). Aaaah!!!!

If it was on Friday, I would have gone down to the NYC gig. The Guggenheim Grotto are opening up for her! Such a great bill.
But dammit, I can't afford to miss 6 hours of Thursday classes, and 3 hours of Friday classes for this |

I decided to skip 2 of my Thursday classes to be able to get an early enough train into NYC (from NJ). So go ahead, najeebah, skip those classes! Haha. Unfortunately, my friend bailed on me, so it looks like I'll be going solo with 2 tickets at this point... so if anyone needs a spare...
Apparently Gavin will be playing his own solo gig across the street after Lisa's show. I'm sure the rest of the band will go over there too, to see him play, right? I wouldn't mind sharing a drink with Lisa and the guys... |

Yes, I was very impressed when he opened for her last time in NYC. I'll be sure to pick up his CD this time! "Older Than My Years" is a great track... even more impressive when he overdubs all the different guitar parts himself on stage.

LOL, I'm a Type A stressor. If I skip a class I'll probably have an apoplexy. I'm so uncool
I'll probably hang around the theater and hope to catch Lisa before the show... or pass by at night just to hear a little snippet. (Yes I am that sad haha)

Tonight's NYC gig was tremendous, as expected. Lisa played from about 9.40 to 11.00, just in time for Gavin to jet across the street to his own show, I guess. The typical Sea Sew songs were included in the set, some with different arrangements then I heard last time (Pistachio was rearranged with the piano being much less prominent in the mix), plus two new cover tracks. Personal Jesus was the new closer instead of Free Until They Cut Me Down, with Lisa sitting and playing some strange stringed instrument. I've seen them before, but don't know what it's called. The other cover was "a Band song," but I can't think of which at the moment.

Here's the complete setlist from the show @ Gramercy Theatre:
Ocean & A Rock Pistachio Blurry Venn Diagram Passenger (new song) Sea Song I Don't Know Keep it All It Makes No Difference (The Band cover) Brolly Beats (new-ish song) Teeth Lille encore break Braille Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode cover) I'm drawing a blank on whether or not I've heard Braille before tonight. Does anyone know if this is a new or old song? |

^I've never heard 'Braille' before, so it must be new. But I think, someone mentioned it before...
I found a few pics from at the Blender Theater here...she was wearing the blue hat

I don't think she's played Braille here in the US yet, at least not in NY, but she did play it in Europe not too long ago. I recognized it from youtube videos when she played it last night.
Here's a few pictures I snapped from last night (just links, so I don't take up too much room with pictures in the thread): http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0643.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0652.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0652.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0668.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0673.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0692.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q...2/IMG_0697.jpg One of those pictures is from after the encore, when she completely destroyed the bow Donagh uses on... whatever that instrument is. I wonder if that was intentional, or if she really just got into the performance? Last edited by PMF88; 10-23-2009 at 06:14 PM. |

^ I'm sure I haven't seen a video or heard a recording of 'Braille', but if you've seen it, maybe you can pint me in the direction...?
Here's a video of Lisa perfoming 'It Makes Not Difference'...

I know I've heard a fairly decent recording of Braille, and I know it was from European show, not from in the US. I can't seem to find it on youtube though... maybe it was from an audience bootleg via dime? Hm..
Now that I sit here I wish that I just recorded these things myself! I was just too caught up in the performance at the time to bother. Oh well, next time. |

Apperently she performed it on the UK Tour:http://eskimofriends.com/forum/showt...Braille&page=2
Just wondering if 'Braille' might be the song that was know as' Secret in Stones' or Droney Drummy, cause she hasn't play that in a while...maybe? This one...

I don't recall hearing that song played Thursday night, but my memory may be off. I was a little distracted after meeting her

I'm seeing her in Los Angeles with my Argentinian boyfriend while he's visiting. He and his band are trying to do a cover of Keep It All. We're super excited... it'll be his first time seeing her, and my third. It'd be nice if more bands/artists could do Latin American tours. I can only imagine how expensive it is to tour though.

argentinian, uh? we are everywhere
what´s the name of the band? do they use to play in argentina? which part of argentina are they from? anyway. i think it´s cool all the cover idea, though keep it all it´s not in my fav list of sea sew songs.
