Where did this info come from?

I have noticed something lately that's got to me a little. Shows in Ireland are being announced a few days before the tickets go on sale. I've noticed this with alot of shows lately. Whatever happened the days when a show would be announced weeks and weeks in advance. Where will I get the money from?! Hehe...

Having had fifteen minutes to consider these developments I now realise that he's playing the shows on monday and tuesday to warm up before the big one on friday. This means that the band at the Picnic will in all probability be a 7-piece. Who will be following my example and going to all three shows? Furthermore to this how many of us will find it easier to reduce the number of shows to two, if the predicted timing clash between Devendra Banhart and Damo does in fact happen at the Electric Picnic?

sounds cool. though it's getting to me as there's so much live music around and none i could possibly attend. so yanka, i know how you feel (wrong place, wrong time, i suppose..)
i'll be staying in england (dover) at that time but i don't think i could afford a flight over as i'm somewhat broke (it's become something like a standard though, so i should be used to it by now )
so anyone who's going: make sure you enjoy it a lot! and even a little more than that for everyone of us that can't make it =)

Got my tickets :-) Looks like standing at Vicar St ..... so that'll increase the capacity a fair bit.

Better when it's unreserved seating at those lovely tables...

I've got 3. Unreserved seating it great if you're willing to put in the effort to que early to get a good spot. I got first row sitting in between where Damien and Lisa's mics were set up. Bo selecta was popular at the time and Damien made some joke to which Lisa responded (off mic) with a "HEE HEE" but no "shamon mother****er". If it's gonna be a rockier show then it'll be better standing.

Default VIDEO & PHOTO

Does anyone know if it's safe to take a video camera (a tiny Sony handycam) to record the show, and maybe my Fuji S7000 camera?

I managed to get two tickets for the 29th show - first time seeing DR live so I'm REALLY looking forward to it! I'll be travelling from Liverpool to Dublin, so not only my first DR concert but my first time in Dublin... and I'm taking me Ma for a birthday treat so a triple whammy!

There's a list of reasons why taking a video camera would be a terrible idea. Firstly the folk at Vicar St are quite strict, they'll notice a camera within a few minutes and will automatically assume you're recording it because you want to sell it for astronomical amounts on eBay later. Then you'll be thrown out of the venue. Secondly, lately Damien appears to be in the habit of telling people to put away their cameras... mainly it's because of idiots who don't know how to use aperture and shutter speed, and instead rely on flash. If you still want your own photos i'd say bringing a digital camera would probably be the best idea. They don't take too kindly to SLR's in my personal experience.

I guess you could say the same about standing tickets though. I'd have preferred seats as I think there's often a better atmosphere at those kind of gigs. Having said that he hasn't played here in a year and a half (excl. minor appearance here and there) so the crowd will be well up for it I imagine.

Well if it's standing then you can alwasy be an asshole and shove your way to the front (not that I'd do that). If you nab a seat then no one is gonna kick you out of it.

I got my tickets for both nights. I wonder which one of us will be the biggest f*cking loser and actually show up earlier then anyone else. This may mean that you'll have to start the queue by roughly six o clock this evening.
