Wonderful gig. There will be plenty reviews aroung i hope.
In advannce a band called Tomorrow's World played which was really really bad. Hard to stand junk. Damiens gig was approx. 2H20Mins in total. Damien told a story that actually he only wanted to play one gig in poland (because he is visiting a friend there today) which apparantly became the current mini tour. So nothing like a start-up tour to a new album. Upon request to play a new song he played wild and free - so it appears there are no other new songs recently. He did a lot of talking to fill the time, which was nice however. There were some free places in the venue. Guess many people did not make it to the gig after all. Here's what i recall he played (in no particulary order) The Professor Delicate Unplayed Piano Elephant Wild and Free Volcano (with audience on stage singing) Rootless Tree I Remember Hallelujah Coconut Skins Older Chests Intro Into (extended) > Amie Cold Water Blowers Daughter Cheers Darling (cames back after a lof of wine and Cheers Darling to performs upon request Fool Photos, Taping etc. were strictly forbidden in the venue. But as far as i can tell people gave a **** about that. I saw two people close to me record the gig. So hopefully there will be a lot of videos and audio recordings around soon Last edited by Chrysler; 07-06-2012 at 05:38 AM. |

Wooow, it sounds so amazing! 8D I love that he talked so much, though I am bummed this is not sign for a new album! And too bad he did not play Cannonball. Glad you had a good time!

Quite astonishing to see how Damien is still so much into his old songs, it's as if he had written them a few days ago.
Bizare to have the impression he is so comfortable on stage, that he's natural, improvises but at the same time has the same scenario for most of his concerts (people on stage for Volcano, same stories he counts, drinking for «*Cheers darling*») Damien seemed to be in a particulary good mood. He wanted all of us (about 2000 people I guess..) to continue the night together at someone's place after the concert... («*who's got a big appartement*?*»...) He said it was the first time he came back on stage after «*Cheers Darling*» to sing another song (is that true...?) Asked the audience and finally chose to sing «*If you leave me know*» because I guess of the link between Jacques Brel, his ex french girlfriend (not Mélanie Laurent) and Paris. The beauty of his soul, his singing and the way he plays his guitare still has an affect on me after all those years... «*Cheers my dear old Damien...*» |

If he indeed played these 2 new songs, then he will never play them at a gig as he clearly doesn't want them recorded (understandably) ...and this greatest bastard song i'd love to hear, seems almost a myth

As everybody said before, the concert was amazing. I posted my pictures in an open album in facebook, so anyone can check it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3&l=162b2219ff
I'll upload later the last song he played. It was incredible, but I was sad because I wanted he picked me to drink wine with him (and for a moment, I believe he would because I yelled asking and he answered if I was not drinking...) Hope he gets back on a long tour soon! |

long time lurker but first post here. having not seen Damien since he was last properly in London which feels like years ago and with him not playing London (didnt fancy an outdoor festival near London) or Germany this time (which is where i spend most of my time) i had to get out to Paris to see him.
Have to say it was an incredible show only slightly spoilt at my own stupidity at badly translating French and thinking i bought 2nd row of stalls to find i bought 2nd row of balcony despite buying my tickets the day they came out! Special mention must go to the venue which i thought was amazing. Great acoustics and nice intimate venue. its normally a classical concert venue and indeed the girl on the door said she had never seen so many young faces inside the venue! everyone has said everything there is to be said - i just hope that we can get some more concerts soon and especially in either London or Germany! |
