Microphone number 2
I've searched this forum and have yet to find somewhere where it talks about Damien Rice's microphone, not the regular one but the one that is right next to the normal one. he uses it on prague, and i remember i believe, as well using it live. just wondering if he made it or its a microphone you can make or it is just effects. can someone help me or point me in the right direction as i am sure its somewhere in this forum. thank you

I *think* it's a standard mic with the cover taken off with some sort of paper wrapped around it. To aid the distortion he uses a Rat pedal and a Line 6 DL for looping.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I thought this may of interest to some people.
I've never been able to find a good, low cost answer on how to get a distorted microphone sound on this forum/whole internet/music shops, until now. Quite simply, all I've done is wrapped some plain printer paper around my sm57 (not 58, didn't work as well) then covered it in duct tape. Turn it up a little more than I would normally have to and it works amazingly. I'm not saying this is how Damien does it, but it's worked for me. Looking forward to gigging with this! Hope that's of some use to at least a few people, if not sorry for dragging this up again. |
