Wow, I think what he means is that it was like Pittsburg I take it, just Damien on acoustic guitar and maybe the ladies with a cello, etc. etc. That is great news, I wonder if he will play acoustic @ Cleveland on Saturday.
Also, I'd be interested to hear the Frames play an all acoustic set. It would be stellar. As for the reuqests thing, I think the one who started that trend was Elliott Smith. At almost everyone on his shows (I have never been to one, but I am an avid bootleg collector) he leaves it open for his fans to yell and yell for the songs they want to hear, and sometimes it pays off when he plays them. I hope Damien does more of this, if he does, I will be yelling for Creep.

Thierry, elliot smith wasn't the person who started that...in fact, i think it went way back, even to Gerry and the Pacemakers at their concerts in Britain in the 60s. They'd begin shows, someone would call for a song, and numerous others would follow suit.

Damien didn't open it up for requests in Madison, but he did say something (sort of under his breath and quickly) near the end of the show (before the encore) like... "And if they are any musicians out there feel free to come up and give us a song." Then he sort of looked around behind him both ways and said (to other band members) "Where is he?" and laughed. Was this maybe in reference to when he had the security guard at a show come up and do "Stand By Me"?? Or maybe aspiring musicians had spoken to him before the show and he was actually giving them a shot. But no one came forward.

montreal was special, it was their first time and from what I've heard they really enjoyed it. The show was taped but not the whole thing, my sister had to leave during eskimo to catch the bus back to ottawa and she had some trouble switching discs so no cold water but the rest of the show is there and sounds pretty good I should have it available within a couple of weeks in the usual places. |

I'm pretty sure he was talking about Glen from the Frames. He was calling him out, but he must have been out by the bus, and then he came after the next song. |
