Italy are my outsiders at 9/2 odds on them so ill put a few quid and hope they do well but the team to beat is france and maybe all that pressure will make them crumble again? maybe not england could do well but they need a good start. id say quarters/semi's for them latvia at 500/1 are worth putting a euro on tho i cant see them making it out of the toughest group (imo)... ill be routing for italy (for money), France and probably sweden for larrson Player of the tournament - henry or zidane. but i can see rooney really shining on the big stage

i think it's gonna be a great tournament, no bad teams in it. i think france should win, even if they were crap in the last world cup... england have good players but never seem to play well... portugal playing at home and italy should do well... but my outsiders are russia! i'm gonna put some money on them to win. go russia! and latvia or course! go latvia!

My picks are France just because of the quality they have in the side and Portugal because of the home factor and its also really the final chance for the "golden generation" to deliver at the senior level, Figo, Rui Costa and hte rest all all over 30 now.
England will hilariously not win, they've got some good players but have problems with finding a replacement for Ferdinand (who is overrated anyway) that will settle in in time, the disaster zone that is the left hand side (I'm a gooner and I'll admit that Cole isn't a world class defender and why the hell would Erikson not give Thompson a chance) and with Rooneys form dip this year they've got no real partner for Owen, and they need to find a keeper. The Dutch will have one of the most talented squads in the tournament but will argue like crazy and not win, as it was in the beginning is now and shall be forever and ever world without end, AmenEdited by: #Ian#

greece 2 - 0 Portugal (update) i always said portugal are very overated... but even with home advantage its really prooving it. Figo isnt the player he is made out to be. Good for greece tho |

The French didn't play that well, especially in the second half, but I wouldn't exactly call them lucky either. It was just a question of time given all thethe possession they had. And Zindane and Henri...damn - they are fantastic! What happened to Maldini? He's no longer playing? I love Maldini! |
