If an ethinicity were to like him, wouldn't it be italians? We are so mocked for our sentimentality, turning everything in a love song, or drama, the ease with which we are devoured by jealousy and aren't afraid to shout it out; somehow nothing really worthy unless love is involved, the more you suffer the more you live.. I don't know. He sings like songwriters we still sing along to (though no one will publish new ones).. Battisti and De gregori and and and.. I think it makes perfect sense Italy would adore him. He's a poet. |

I agree, he puts a lot of feelings into his songs, you can just feel his emotions right along with him as he sings. Im not Italian but I love him!

Thanks for the warm welcome. To make it clear.. I was just trying to explain why we (italians) would like him as much. I think the italians and the irish are very much alike anyway. Immigrants, black sheep of europe,"arty",guilt ridden by a catholicism that doesn't seem to affect as us much as they want to portray in american films.. (because I guess the catholic guilt is undeniable, but don't you always find it exasperated in the portrayal of it by american movies?) |

The only Italian singer I've listen to are Laura Pausini and Eros Ramazzoti (<- excuse me if i spelled it wrong), but i'm not quite sure if they write they're own music. But I like them.

Oh God noooooooo noooooooooooo noooooooooooooo ! Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those intellectual snobs, I'll sing along to Britney if the song does it for me but Italy has produced such beauty in music! In most cases it was songwriters, therefor lyrics would have a great relevance and I can't recommend any (or do you speak italian?). Hmm.. I'll try looking into it. Italian music for non-italian speakers... |

I agree with you JennIE;I often compare Damien to someitalian songwriter(why not a Guccini too, who many years ago wrote a song named "Eskimo", but that was another story...) to explain to my friends what I'm talking about. After the show of Bologna I was just talkingabout the different emotions thatgave to me Damien and Josh Ritter.... nice but I didn't feel the songs in the same way. Maybe another evidence is that many of the new arrived in the igloo are italians, and many of them came... recovering the satellites Edited by: irradiato |

BACI PAT |
