I dunno, but he makes a lot of references to God for an atheist.

Here's a few, there are more too... esp, if you interpret loosely: Delicate We might make love in some sacred place Cold Water Lord, can you hear me now? I Remember God will forgive me The Professor Well closer to God is the one who's in love One other thing, that never occurred to me until someone said it: I was singing Cold Water one night. I did the really deep voice, "the monk bit" or "the gregorian chant". This girl who'd never heard the song before came up to me afterwards and said "I really liked your God voice". I'd never considered before that that part was the voice of God, but it does fit perfectly.Edited by: Banjaxed

mabye damo just as well as his music finds religion very beautiful and peaceful but doesn't actually follow a specific one

Think damo said once before that he spent some time in/around a monastary (maybe in Tuscany). That's probably where he picked up the Gregorian chant stuff. I actually havea CD of Gregorian Chanting here. It's interesting stuff... for a while. He also talked before (maybe in the same interview) about going to see the Dalai Lama (he didn't get to see him tho cause he fell of his bike on the way). Sounds like someone who is at least spiritual if not of a religion.Edited by: Banjaxed

Interesting thread.... I never really thought about it too much, because i thought at one of his gigs i heard him say that he was raised catholic (in one of his stories about "taking care" of himself )

although, on typing that i realized that being raised in a certain religion is hardly a guarantee that that person will remain in that faith.... but im with simon on not getting into a religion debate

Everyone in my family was raised catholic, but hardly anyone still practices the catholic faith, so i see what you're saying there Kristi.

I'm a recovering Catholic myself. Damo is definitely a spiritual dude but I don't believe he follows any one religion, it's more like a mixture of positive energy sources and teachings. |

It has never occurred to me that Damien might be an atheist. Yeah, I don't think he sticks solely to one religion. In an interview, he said something about not agreeing that only one view is correct, when it comes to religion. I remember him saying something like, "What about the Qu'ran? What about the <something>" etc etc. Don't remember which interview that was. |

I think I've heard something about him being a catholic too. And I dont know why, but I think I've seen an interview with him where he says that he belives in "a God". Not in any spesific religion. "hallelujah" has nothing to do with religion right?? Im thinking about "delicate". And Buckley's "hallelujah"... If that made any sense..

Of course... But Damo and J. Buckley uses hallelujah for something else right?? A description of something really big, beautiful etc... Do you know what I mean??

Well Leonard Cohen who wrote the song seemed to be talking about religion, love and obsession when he wrote it. There are references in the lyrics to King David.

I've read somewhere that Buckley said hallelujah was about love, sex and an orgasm. Buckley's "hallelujah" has for me always been about someone who misses his girlfriend. About having sex, and all the love that's in it.And that girl couldnt see that. She moved on and found another lover.A broken hallelujah. Well there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me do ya But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath you drew was Hallelujah Maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya It's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Have you heard Buckleys medley of Hallelujah/I know its over?? That song makes me ever more certain of what I'm saying. I think the first verse is about an orgasm. A secret chord. The baffled king composing Hallelujah... Am I totally wrong?? I hope not. This has been the best lyrics I've ever read. It about how we all should live. How love should be...

Thanx. So what I really ment was that hallelujah isnt always used in a religious way. It think its a description on something really beautiful almost holy or something. Like in this case, the sex.

I've used a lot of time on that one. The song is sooo beautiful so I just had to know what it was really about. But I could be totally wrong too..
