^ duke special... wow. i was into his music mood lately.

i so get what you said about being quiet, so sad... but im glad you had a good time after all and had the chance to talk to glen and colm (i so like him ).
every time i read a review from any of you, my wish to see them live gets more intense...

^^^ about the recording... nice idea.

the audience sounds a lot like the crowd in seattle. I'm just jealous you got Hey Day and I didn't. :P

Default about once

i´ve watched it a zillion times before but i´ve just noticed something with the red car that i haven´t done before... the wheel is on the left (and it has supposed to be on the right, if i´m right)... weird!

and just one silly comment (which makes no sense at all, he)... why does she say she will come later when she knows that she won´t?... why people, in general, do that, i wonder... saying things that won´t happen, and they know it from the very beginning... it makes me gggrrr... but mostly sad

the last time i saw the swell season, this was december or november of 2009, anyways, glen near the end of the show, told this story about meeting a lady in an elevator and how her son had died in the 9/11 attacks. i remember it being a poignant story, but i dont remember the specifics. anyone have a transcript of it, or a rough translation of what he said?

I think Glen told the woman he liked her scarf, and the woman replied she was happy he said that, because it's important to say things etc... and that her son had died in the 9/11 attack and she didn't get the chance to tell him she loved him, or something, and so many things were left unsaid...

Not sure if it's been posted here, but I found a bunch of videos from when Glen did that special Doveman show in NYC, including one a new song "Lucia" -- http://vimeo.com/19326970

it's worse when it's someone that gives you their real number and you visit the place they work at frequently...

Here's my theory... Guys do it for the sex. (not saying I have, haha.) Or for the chance of sex at least. Or they are the same as girls in the sense that sometimes they don't know how to handle the situation (generally when being asked for their number or something). People are nice but that is just mean and wrong. If you don't want to hang out with or whatever just say no, I'm sorry. For the most part I think women are worse usually because it's very rare a girl asks for a guys number and then doesn't answer or anything. Guys generally have to make that move. Anywho, ramble ramble ramble.

I want glen back in vancouver!

I'm not sure if a relationship between the two is worthy of a documentary film. Sure, it can be fun for the tabloid thrill, but really I don't feel that the topic interesting enough. I do like Glen's music, but I can't give a hoot about his love life. Wow, fame made them split, that's original!

Give me Philippe Petit walking the tightrope between the WTC towers or Timothy Treadwell and his bears anytime over the personal lives of musicians.

Unless it's done by Werner Herzog.

I don't know, I think it could be interesting. Glen, who has grown accustomed to being a struggling musician is now Successful, and Mar has gone from being virtually unknown teenage pianist to being recognized on the street. I'd be interested to see how that tension plays out, but yeah, I definitely don't want to watch an entire film about the dissolution of their romantic relationship.

What I'm more curious about, though, is how their Oscar win changed their creative process. At a certain point, they stopped writing songs together. Mar went from having no real musical aspirations of her own to wanting to go it alone. Glen brought The Frames on board after the Oscars and mashed together the two sounds; how is the experience with The Swell Season going to influence the writing/performance style of The Frames in the future?

This film documents two years of touring and recording, so I'd hope to see some of these things shown.

exactly, i don´t think the film is focused on their romance, despite that it´s included (i don´t know why). i really want to watch it.

Yes, they are both musicians. David Rameriz is really worth the look. The soundtrack is already on itunes and David Rameriz has a CD and i think an EP on itunes. David also has some really nice videos on youtube. He does a version of "The Weary Kind" which is unbelievable along with others. My favority songs are Proven Me Wrong, What I Lost, I think i like you, Argue with Heaven, and Drunk).

Check it out...i'm hoping this film gets some word of mouth as that usually helps it come out a little quicker.

thanks...

Glen sings Stevie Wonder... http://vimeo.com/23015238

He also took part in the "Radio Free Song Club" show. It's almost 2 hours long with a bunch of great musicians. I enjoyed every performance and every song that was played. http://cdn.teamholistic.net/radiofre...FSC13d_192.mp3

- Glen does back up for Don Piper at the 14 minute mark singing "Free To Grow".
- Glen comes back on around the 61 minute mark and has a little chit chat for about 6 minutes.
- Glen sings "High Hope" at about 66:40. More talking afterwards. They discusses Once and the success that has come from it.
- Glen sings a new song called "Rare Bird" at 76:40! Wrote 2 days ago and finished it the night of the recording... This man is a writing machine! More talking afterwards again...
- Glen does another song after at 82:00sh. Glen tries to teach the boys that are backing him up the song. (It's not the frames he's with.) It turns out to be absolutely fantastic! Apparently it's called "Alice". So I guess that's another new song? Haha. I really enjoyed it. The little solo was nice.

End of Glen. Absolutely awesome mini set. The whole thing was a great listen.

so you guys really think this DVD is a good idea? I wouldn't mind a sorta on-the-road live thing, but a docu about their personal lives, not sure if I wanna watch that... and what did they do? split up in real life and then re-split up on camera??
