9 Crimes
I'm pretty much the hypocrite of all time, because I really hate covers, they tend to ruin songs for me, but at least I own up to being a hypocrite

okay its working again now :P.
few things, your voice is too low, its hard to hear it over the piano, and its a shame because we know your voice works :P, and also i think your hitting a wrong note on the piano, at the end of the 4th bar, its not a big deal because its still in key, but its just something i noticed but its the voice thing thats the main problem, its hard to hear it

There's a few things I picked up on. The first being that 9 crimes is split up into 4 component chords. Am, F, C and then G. You have the final 2 notes on the transition from G back to Am incorrect (but that's just the pedantic musician in me speaking). The second thing is that you are playing far too quickly. You need to calm things down and don't rush, and you will be able to hold your notes a bit easier as you went off key a few times.
As i've said before on your covers you really do have a beatiful smoky tone to your voice, you just need to practice on controlling it Keep up the good work! Last edited by Dean C; 02-18-2007 at 03:34 PM. |

^^ It's Am/F/C/G not Am/Fm/C/G

I didn't realize how fast I was playing until you guys said something, and when I went back to see, I really was going ridiculously fast! I'm going to try to redo it a little later, just the audio, and try the new notes you all explained! thanks, i reallly appreciate the feedback
ohh and my piano is incredibly out of tune, if that explains anything. I was going to use my keyboard but the sound is just prettier on a piano no matter what haha Last edited by LaurenBledsoe; 02-18-2007 at 04:07 PM. |

Well they already mentioned the speed It's much slower. And the begning or the song starts with the A,B,C in the left hand but it isnt played every time.
Something I saw Damien do at the Adelaide concert was play on with the meledoy in the right hand, just playinh the first 3 notes of heach bar with the left. I just had a go and it's incredibly easy and sounds great. I'm very tempted to have a go at a cover, but I've never tried before so I'm a bit wary. I do have a lovely piano to play though, a beautiful old steinway grand, which sort of makes up for the fact my singing voice is a bit crap. And by the way Lauren, the end part of eskimo sounded fantastic! You have a beautiful voice! |

Everyone should shut up about Laurens tempo, the sole purpose of a cover is to add a piece of yourself into the song, it should not be a identical version, but a unique one. Clearly, Lauren thinks it's great and everything that you're giving her good help, but I think it's bull**** and you should shut up and enjoy how amazing it was, raw without your trivial "help"

i think your guilty of hypocrisy there romano (i probably spelt that wrong but im hoping that wont hurt my credibillity).
you say that everything on this forum is 'sugary' and 'candy', basically that you think we are all too nice to eachoter for no reason, when you are doing the same for your best friend, and ofcourse you going to stick up for her but we are not attacking her, we know lauren has a beautiful voice, weve heard it many a time, but we are offering contstructive critisism, telling her thing that she may not have picked up on, so while you go and shout at everyone for bieng over nice, at the same time you are going to shout at us for actually giving her some constructive critisism? especially when lauren her self said that she didnt realise how fast she was going, thats where comment like these can really help, so why not just give us a break.

Perhaps nerves or whatever, but i got the feeling that you got a bit uncomfortable in parts there for some reason. Perhaps it's just me, but i think you would benefit a lot of relaxing before playing, and that's not just to do with the tempo, in fact, the tempo can work really well. But your voice is still fantastic, although if i'm picky, i think you got part of the lyrics wrong, i think (although i couldn't hear very well) you said: "is that alright with you?" when it should have been "is that alright yeah?". No matter!
Good work
