Tonight was my first live Damien Rice show. Although I've heard a few through sharing and this wonderful website. And of course he did not dissappoint. I know from reading posts from the last few days that he's been battling illness, but you couldn't really tell tonight. His voice started to break by the end of the set, but with all the singing he did it could have happened anyway. Lisa voice was stunningly beautiful as always and the band was very tight. They played everything from "O" except for Cheers Darlin' and Eskimo, including Prague and Silent Night. Throw in "The Professor" with a "When a Man Loves a Woman" finish to it as opposed to the usual French. Vyvienne's "Seven Nation Army" was a big hit as always. Woman like a Man rocked loudly, along with a few others which I don't know names of to be honest. And Lisa's solo song in which Damien played the rhythm on the body of his guitar was brilliant. Damien wasn't as chatty as I've heard him in other shows. In fact there were no intros to any of the songs tonight at all, which surprised me a little. But it was 2 hours of great music and passion, which is all I ever want in a show. Thanks to Damien and the gang, can't wait until they're back in the states again. Look forward to hearing more reviews. --YW |
