Default Billy Corgan @ The Ambassador, Dublin

I don't know if anyone's interested, but he's playing June 17th and as of this morning there's less then 100 tickets left...

€48 a ticket, thats nuts, I wouldn't pay that for a reformed Pumpkins gig.

I guarantee you that you can find it in your character map cille. Ian my ticket only cost 39 quid and i got it from ticketmaster too, what's the story eh? Anyway i was in a ticket buying mood, i got tickets to the Pixies and Sonic Youth... and i knew i'd regret it if i didn't go to se Billy... his new stuff is sad again, which is good, because some people just can't pull off the happy with music.

i haven't heard it, i'm not too interested in downloading it though because i'd like to go not knowing any songs... i saw interpol in 2003 not having heard their album at the time and it was just incredible.

I have no way to get home afterwards though... which could be a problem.

i'm concerned with the level of noise that's all - maybe he will keep it down live of course.

Well i don't have any conventional filesharing programs, that being illegal ones... i only get live music from the internet. So there isn't much of a chance that i'd get to hear it before i go to the concert. I'm hoping to be plesantly surprised, but i'm comfortable to have payed money just to hear him sing.

I haven't heard anything by him, i wouldn't mind hearing one or two songs so i could pm you my email address.

It's not too surprising that the shows are quite loud, pumpkins shows often went well over the legal decibel limit. It's mostly so that people can't talk, so they either pay attention or leave... i guess that's what you have to do when you play in L.A clubs...

i just wrote a loooong review of my experience at the dutch corgan gig but it disappeared when i tried to post it and i can't be arsed with rewriting it (select all + copy before you post cille! ). here's the MUCH shorter version:

just wanna say that surprisingly enough i kinda liked billy corgan. it wasn't loud, but noisy. i particularly enjoyed the wall of light behind the band, very fancy. and i love the way he looks into the eyes of his audience when he plays solos, not many artists dare that. he also shook hands w people after the gig. i'll never love his voice, but it would have been more tolerable in an acoustic setting. the sound was horrible and i could never hear linda strawberry's backing voc's. hopefully that was due to the local sound guy, so it will be better at other gigs.
i hated the opening act gliss, their music seriously gave me a near-panic attack.

i wrote a lot more but it's lost in cyberspace.

yeah, i feel like that too, and then again the other day i actually felt like listening to a few songs so i guess they do grow on even people who don't like that kind of stuff. i HATE his version of 'to love somebody', though. the song was cheesy before and he's not making it any less cheesy...

I loved the show, it was worth the money just to see the 2-3 seconds of 'Today', the new songs are really nice, i kinda think billy is a bit obtuse with the band that he's in... but it works really well.

I've always liked his voice too, it's just different.

He was at it for the whole night actually... it really was a pleasure to see him, it felt really strange finally seeing someone in the flesh who you've been seeing in magazines and film for ten years. Much like when i saw The Pixies.

Anyway yeah, he did seem very gracious and happy that people were coming to the shows. He really knows how to control/exite a crowd too, it's quite rare that you see someone that confident about something.
