Default What stage of a tour is Damien most chatty at? /Hammersmith Apollo

Or is it random...

See I went to the tuesday vicar st, gig and he didnt say a word - but i know on the wednesday he was really lively... any tips on which UK gig i should choose?

Also, do you think the Hammersmith gig will be standing?

I've only ever seen him once, and that was at the one-off charity gig in the Palladium, so it wasn't really representative of a tour. Fat lot of help I am! He was pretty chatty then, though, taking requests and stuff. It was a really good atmosphere because it was really only fans who had managed to get tickets, and I'm not sure if that'll be the case with the tour. Particularly in London...I'm pretty sure the Hammersmith will be standing. Usually is, I think.

I think its fair to say that its totally random! The Wednesday night gig at Vicar St was better cos he was in a chatty mood. I saw him solo there a couple of years back, and he was quite chatty then as well. other times, barely a peep. I went to both Vicar St shows cos i guessed he'd probably be in a better mood for one over the other.

He's been chatty at most gigs I've been to other than that Tuesday night in Vicar Street. Maybe I've been lucky but I have been to see him over 10 times...

when I saw him in Jersey he was asking the audience for cigerates and drinking scotch on stage, it was the last day of the tour. He also ran on stage with fiona, the videos are posted somewhere on the forum. He really talked a lot during the show. But that was my only time seeing him so i have nothing to compare it to.

i think it depends on his mood. i have seen him super chatty, and then when he opend for Fiona Apple he barely spoke at all. i would say the most talkative i have seen him was at the Saratoga Mountain winery show this past summer. he was talking up a storm and also got pretty drunk during the cheers darlin story. lol...it was awesome!

nah that's not what i meant - but i mean you can't deny there's more to 'performance' that just coming on and singing effortlessly because it's just something you have to do, and you also can't deny that a gig during which the artist is chatty and seems like they actually want to be there is more enjoyable for an audience.

Don't get me wrong - i'm not condemning Damien because he didn't talk - he's perfectly entitled to and i don't think it's remotely wrong or inconsiderate that sometimes he doesn't - after all he isn't under any obligation to talk and it isn't his duty. All I'm saying is that personally I enjoy gigs more when they're chatty and seem like theyre enjoying themselves, so I would prefer to go to on eof the chatty gigs.

Damo's chattiness depends on his form i think.
the Tues Vicar street gig he was completely jet-lagged so no talking for him.
On the Fiona tour he was apparently in flying form the last night he supporrted in AC. had a blast i believe.
there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, just luck.
if you can get him tipsey first, it helps.

be mischeivous. hee hee

It really does depend with Damo. But during previous london gigs people have been quite inconsiderate and pissed him off.

I saw Damien at the Palladium gig too, really lovely atmosphere that evening, I remember wondering if it was going to be a rather sombre evening because of the poignancy of the occasion.
The only other time I saw Damien was at St Luke's, London (the BBC sessions gig.) A brilliant evening, but as far as I remember he didn't chat much. Anyway, I hope he has a glass or two of his favourite tipple before the Hammersmith gig and delights us all with some intriguing stories...looking forward to it a lot!
