what song would you have at your wedding?
i always thought i would dance my first dance on my wedding day to one of damien's songs, but his lack of new material is making me look at other options (it's not a threat damien) but has just got me thinking.
wondered what some of you guys would recommend as a perfect first dance song for wedding day (not that anyone's proposed yet) but you know, a girl needs to dream. i really like in your light by jon allen at the moment, and been listening to a lot of david saw who also has some beautiful songs.

For weddings, there is only one song in the universe:
Hmm... there's actually two:

A slow rendition of "Close to me" by The Cure, by a singer, and a jazz orchestra.

"Is This Love" by Bob Marley.
I wanna love you and treat you right; I wanna love you every day and every night: We'll be together with a roof right over our heads; We'll share the shelter of my single bed; We'll share the same room, yeah! - for Jah provide the bread. Is this love - is this love - is this love - Is this love that I'm feelin'? Is this love - is this love - is this love - Is this love that I'm feelin'? I wanna know - wanna know - wanna know now! I got to know - got to know - got to know now! I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I - I'm willing and able, So I throw my cards on your table! I wanna love you - I wanna love and treat - love and treat you right; I wanna love you every day and every night: We'll be together, yeah! - with a roof right over our heads; We'll share the shelter, yeah, oh now! - of my single bed; We'll share the same room, yeah! - for Jah provide the bread. Is this love - is this love - is this love - Is this love that I'm feelin'? Is this love - is this love - is this love - Is this love that I'm feelin'? Wo-o-o-oah! Oh yes, I know; yes, I know - yes, I know now! Yes, I know; yes, I know - yes, I know now! I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I - I'm willing and able, So I throw my cards on your table! See: I wanna love ya, I wanna love and treat ya - love and treat ya right. I wanna love you every day and every night: We'll be together, with a roof right over our heads! We'll share the shelter of my single bed; We'll share the same room, yeah! Jah provide the bread. We'll share the shelter of my single bed |

Pretty much anything by David Gray! Some of his are really popular for weddings, I think "You're The World To Me" is one of those, and that's actually a really good song too.

Ooh I should probably start thinking of that.. Traditionally it would be this one:
But we might wanna escape that somehow... Won't be easy though, it's a very integrated part of all danish weddings, and always end in the wedding guests symbolically castrating the groom by cutting off his socks and tie, and symbolically raping the bride by tearing apart her veil. Yay. :-S

For ballad I'd have to go with Berlin's "How Deep Is the Ocean?" from Sinatra's "Nice and Easy" album.
For sheer joyful love songs it's hard to top Spin Doctors' "Two Princes" and Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Come on Eileen"

what about the version of The Blower's Daughter in Portuguese sung by that couple Seu Jorge and Carolina?? Portuguese sounds so beautiful, and accidentally they skip the 'Til I Find Somebody New' bit

It might sound kitschy, but actually I want to have Eels' version of "Can't Help Falling In Love". It's just amazing!

OK, been thinking about this, and...I don't know if it'll be a dance, but I could sing Stings 'The secret Marriage'
It's kind of anti-marriage but it's about that inner need to bond no matter what culture dictates.

Thriller... It'll be a recreation of this brilliant idea that's started it all...
