it didn't seem really worthy of the news page, but there's an interview here (http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/en...ory=77262.html) with mark owen (ex take that - or one of those other boy bands) in which he says:
"Good music in any genre is all in the chorus and the melody – I love Rufus Wainwright and Damien Rice as much as I love Radiohead and the Stone Roses.” |

Brilliantly talented American musician. He might take some getting used to. He's more like wine than beer. He is the son of Kate McGarrigle an Loundon Wainwright III, both respected folk musicians. Though Rufus' musical influences come from opera and Broadway, so the music is quite over-the-top theatrical at times (he practically invented the "chamber pop" genre). Matt Johnson, Jeff Buckley's old drummer, was sitting in on his last album. http://www.rufuswainwright.com
