funniest thing ive read all morning!!!

12 years of the frames trying to break america which rice does in little over a year with no publicity and outsells them by a long shot

and to rub it all in they are supporting him!! ha ha!! i just cant help but laugh at hansard and co...

has to be the dream support act...

that's a bit dodgy putting someone as good as the frames for your support act, especially with Glen's fantastic on stage presence. I thought the idea of a support act was that they were always slightly out of tune so the main act seems better...

well they helped damien get to a bigger audience in ireland so i guess he's going to help bring them to a bigger audience in america. also, their album "set list" is to be released later this month i think.

anyone know the dancing group? troupe even...

I think it is a fantastic idea, there are many people in the states who do not know who the Frames are, I myself had never heard of them untill I joined this website.. I think that is fantastic!!!!

After all the support the Frames have given artists, including Damien so selflessly over the years it is just reward that they're getting this. And appropriate too that it's happening at a time when Damien is establishedand playing bigger venues etc.....

That's put a smile on my face.

Heres a quick translation from their "About" section...

founded 1998 by two guys at the swedish ballet academy to lighten up the mood a bit but with time they got more serious and difficult and now they have something important to say. They work as a collective and have done both small and big pieces around sweden and europe. They have also made a couple of short movies. The collective is held together by a base of 4 people. They are stockholm based and they question the role of the coreographer vs the dancers and always create what they are doing together as well as trying to inspire the dancers who participate in each production to be creating artists in a larger sense. They have no leader and work in a way where everyones ideas are equally worth. Sometimes thorough a project based rotating leadership style. They think there is a lack of individual creativity in swedish dance art and wonder why so few dance artists perform their own projects, since their experience is that through driving your own projects one gets a greater artisitc integrity and strenght. Artisitcally the group is constantly looking for different ways of expression and the starting point of a project is never the same. Since different people are always involved and in charge of differend projects the artisitc expressionis never the same.

There is a difference between a support act and special guests in my book......

And for your own information the Frames have not been trying to break America for 12 years...and I'm pretty sure Damien didn't TRY to do that either...

To whoever said that they thought a support band was supposed to be a bit out of tune so the headliner sounds better....not entirely the case...a support band is there to warm up the crowd...get them going for the main act...I'm sure the Frames will have no problem there...!

TJ, its takes balls to make it in music, and to cold call one of the biggest names in the country asking for a support slot takes a pretty big set but you should go for it. Have a demo done first though.
