damien + lisa = ?
What musical artists duos do you think compare to Damo and Lisa?
I would put my money on Conor Oberst & Emmylou Harris in 2005's "I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning", especially tracks like: we are nowhere and its now, poison oak, landlocked blues, first day of my life, lua. aw heck, all the tracks on that album just like lisa "gets" damo, emmylou really nails her parts and keeps up with conor, who is every bit as dark and panged as damo. Check it out, it really is Damien and Lisa all over again, except with an american folk flavor instead of irish folk flavor.

the first thing that pops in my head is leonard cohen and the girl that sang on all of his albums...or at least the ones i have .. sorry for being ignorant and not knowing her name.
for the record, damien and lisa are a far superior singing duo than the aforementioned...i just think of leonard cohen and company...its just damien is more talented of an artist (notice i didn't say song writer) |

i don't think anyone really measures up to damien and lisa, at least not in my book. but my brother-in-law would probably compare them to johnny cash and june carter. alarming, i know.

Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, not so much the vocal part, but the chemistry.

nah i'd say Dylan and Baez are quite the duo. Of course their voices do not even compare to that of Damo's and lisa's

Stars are pretty damn good. I think there's something a bit more transparent about their use of two voices to tell two sides of a story, though. Can't quite put my finger on what I mean at the moment. Mainly because it's 2:25am...

Try Bono & Andrea Corr "Summer Wine". There is chemistry there. And it is a bloody good song.
Oh, also "Your Ghost" by Kirsten Hersh & Mike Stipe, and "Drug Buddy" by Evan Dando & Juliana Hatfield are worth a listen, imo Last edited by timmay!; 11-18-2006 at 02:49 PM. |

Okay, don't shoot me, but I just had a sudden inspiration, which is kind of weird:
Damien + Lisa = Jason Mraz & Toca Rivera Well, of course Lisa is faaaar more beautiful and not as scary as Toca but I kind of like the comparison. IMHO both duos are truly soul mates that create much more "magic" together than on their own, even though both Damien & Jason are incredible singer/songwriters. They just seem to display their full magnificence only when performing together. My two cents. Other than that I can't really think of any duo that has ever struck me the way Damo & Lisa do. Maybe Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush in "Don't Give up". But just maybe. |

I'm a bit of a fan of Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, of The Arcade Fire, as well as Mike Patton and Jennifer Charles' collaboration on their Lovage album.

Duets that get me:
Jim Reid and Hope Sandoval, "Sometimes Always" Neil Young and Joni Mitchell, "Helpless" Sandy Denny and Ashley Hutchings, "Come All Ye" Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant, "Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key" I agree with the mentions of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, Evan Dando and Juliana Hatfield, and Conor Oberst and Emmylou Harris. |
