Sydney - Night 1 (Setlist Inside)
Hello my eskimo friends!
Amazingly good performance tonight. As usual I guess. Very good audience. He was a fairly good mood tonight. A little bit a storytelling. Didn't see any bootleggers. A pretty standard setlist except for Lisa closing the show with Be My Husband! Unexpected but still soooooo good. Interesting that we missed out on The Animals were gone, Cold Water and I Remember. Not that I'm complaining. So here's what we did experience... Woman Like A Man (Damien Solo) Delicate (Damien and Vyvienne joins) The Professor and La Fille (Damien, Vyvienne, Lisa joins) Volcano (Damien, Lisa, Vyvienne, Shane joins) Rootless Tree Coconut Skins Eskimo Childish 9 Crimes Grey Room Older Chests Me, My Yolk And I Elephant Amie ---Encore--- Random Man On The Motorway (Vyvienne and Lisa) Cannonball The Blower's Daughter Be My Husband (Lisa and Damien) Random Moments... * During Delicate when Vyvienne started playing they both realised Damien had started in the wrong key! She went down a semitone to his key almost straight away but he stopped after the first chorus ended and explained what happened to the audience (lots of laughs) and started again in the right key. * During Coconut Skins (after speaking about people living their lives through a camera lense) about 2 lines into the song, to protest against the photographers, he turned his microphone around and sung with his back to the audience! It didn't stop the photographers though. npj |

The show was, as expected, fantastic!
I know it's been said before but Lisa is absolutely amazing. She really showed off her vocal range with a low husky growl singing a verse of The Professor and an ever angelic, echo enhanced Eskimo (final Finnish little bit). Loved the piano rendition of Rootless Tree too. A little disappointed they didn't play I Remember (expected a good 10minute version like in Four Sessions) but they did have a long intense ending to Volcano which was just as good. Very satisfied snowjay |
