what did he play? do you have a setlist? EDIT: watching now, thanks Mike! Watching bits of it, It Takes A Lot was too short, I wish he played the 15-minute version If someone can upload the dime version tomorrow, I'll be forever grateful! Can't wait to download Last edited by glo32; 05-29-2015 at 10:36 PM. |

Someone posted another capture on youtube advertisiing as HD 1080p. That's just a clickbait. Source stream was 406p max. It's not a proper capture, only a fullscreen recording.
This is how it looks like in "1080p HD" http://i.imgur.com/IUKP1G4.jpg If you're going to stream it use mike's link and give him the views count and thumbs up Just my 2 cents

just watched!!!!!! great great performance, I thought his sound was gonna be drowned in such a huge place but was incredible! a great mix of old and new songs, fast and slow ones, the rockier ones really worked, I Remember and It Takes a Lot, also the new 9 crimes...
too bad these shows at festivals are so short, with a bit more time he could have added Volcano and Long Long Way on the harmonium and make it a perfect gig for what I remember this is one of the small stages, not ay of the big ones???? so how was the gig for the ones that were there in person??? did anyone met him? did he also talked to the press? cos I saw that many artists did...

marti, as i said, i totally assumed you were there, hehe.
ian, i´m sorry about the incident. here´s a beatiful, very touching review from el país. http://cultura.elpais.com/cultura/20...52_484614.html it´s quite long for me to translate it now entirely. also, i´m not sure to be able to translate it properly. there are some references to damien´s 8 years break and how beatiful my faded fantasy album is. it´s mostly focus on his perfomance and how this little fella, only with his guitar and a few more resources could put everyone in the audience and under his spell! and how anything else is reduced to silence when damien sings, whether is a soft song, such as delicate of the blower´s daughter, or a raw song as i remember, 9 crimes or the complex ITALTKAM (i added the complex thing). they compared damien to a volcano and described his music as "volcanic folk". to sum it up, the title says it all... "damien rice, the rest is all silence".

I was at the gig and, as you can all see, it was an incredible performance. After not having watched Damien since Marlay Park in 2007, I was long overdue a concert. The fact that it was on a sunset-lit beach in Barcelona made it extra special.
My personal favourites were 9 Crimes and ITALTKAM, mainly because he allowed himself more expression in these songs. Unfortunately time was of an issue here, as has been pointed out, but I thought he filled the hour with a perfect festival mix of jukebox classics and musical prowess. Probably the best insight I can give, that you won't get from the stream, is how well Damien was received by the Primavera crowd. This festival weekend was totally about The Strokes for a lot of people, with the other artists purely making up the bill. Nearly everyone I spoke to about their top performers of the weekend said something along the lines of "... And Damien Rice! I didn't expect him to be that good live!" He was trusted with quite a big slot on the main stage and he certainly didn't let himself down. Thanks to everyone who helped capture the video! I can't wait to watch it back. amazed at how positive reviews are... found this on La Vanguardia:
The blower’s daughter. yeah his performance was very good (also since i havent seen any of the other recent tour dates overdue for me as well) and the - massive - crowd was super quiet. At least in the very front. ^^
His time slot was 2 hours before the next band was set. dunno if he could have played longer. for i read the cure played for 3 hours at primavera before. but perhaps they had the last slot. |

That front stage area seems huge though. Would have bothered me a lot if I were there. Must be weird for the artists as well, standing so far from the crowd.

We reckon they did that because of the Heineken stage right next door. Throughout the weekend there wasn't an act on both it and the main stage at the same time - which I guess makes sense.

Did anyone go to the Primavera sister festival in Porto? A lovely photo of him sound checking was uploaded to the social media accounts yesterday. I had a trawl through Instagram videos from it and it appears to be the same set as Barcelona - well, I haven't heard a song that wasn't played there (Delicate, Elephant, TGB, TBD, It Takes A Lot)
