yes indeed.... i love that tuning... also, try taking it to DADDDD... that's even more beautiful when strummed open... takes some serious tweaking on the strings though...

i'm currently working out "the girl who does yoga" and im positive damien uses either DADGAd tuning, or open G. damien even talks about tuning the guitar differently before he begins the song and the first string he hits (low e) he tunes down to a low D. i'm going to fiddle around with those tunings today and try to see what i come up with. anything good will be posted!

It's a great tuning if you're playing slide guitar

i am not sure how your electric tuner works...but but i imagine it should be capableof tuning to different tones, right? ..or simply tune by ear and use tones on your guitar as a reference (3rd fret on H for little E to tune it to D for example and so on) Edited by: tomas |

Tune it by ear to the 4th string/D string.
Pluck the D string and then lower the bottom E string until it resonates at a similar pitch to the D string. Keep hitting the D string to check whether or not it's to D yet. Do the same with the high E string. |

n you need to take down the b string a whole tone pluck the a string and the b string together and tune down the b till it sounds right, its only about half a turn but you'l know when it does.

just tune your 1st&6th string to the 3rd (D), then tune your 5th string to the 2nd (A). Standard tuners won't generally allow you to open-tune so just tune by ear it's good for your pitch reference as well * good tuning eabebe pretty damn funky.. |
