Me my Yoke and I
What do you guys think of this song?
The first ever Rice album I bought was 9 around November 2007. I remember listening to the album and initially not being drawn to it, it grew on me over the 5 month period where i was preparing for my final exams and preparing to mentally say goodbye to all the people i had known in that important period in my life where i became an adult. Therefore I related to most of 9, however I never grasped Me my Yoke and I. It is only now that I realise how amazing this song is, i love it. Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to know what everyone else thought of it. |

I really didn't like it when I first heard it either. What changed my opinion was seeing it performed live two years ago. Damien looped the "You do not need me" ending of "Volcano" into the song and it was magnificent. After that, I couldn't stop listening to the studio recording for a long time.

It's a wee bit sick. But that said, Damien is like the sadist jock of the aristocracy..

^The alienation of 21. Century mankind and a rebellion against the angst-ridden social equilibrium that keeps people from achieving the quintessential avascular perfection of the soul.

^that's such a male-exclusive reading, one that is completely disregarding the universal psycho-ovalbuminial qualities of the piece. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

What do you guys think of this song?
I probably have the opposite reaction from most on this one. I always thought of it as an ok song and it was never one of my favorites live but the recorded version on 9" really won me over. I really liked all the layering it had on it and unlike all the other songs on that album which were known to us before (all but 2) it was the only one I didn't prefer in previous live incarnations.

The album recording is pathetic. The Lobby version is awesome. Because it's slightly restrained. Too much white noise ruins MMY&I.

i really like the album version... it is very descriptive to me, about having an orgasm (thinking about what this song is about, of course): starting low, soft... and then getting more and more intensive, harder till it exploded... and then, soft again... like whispering...
yes, i do like it! ps: ok... this is not an issue that i´m used to talk about, so now i´m a little blushed
