http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2735/...0d5fce6da3.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2724/...200a0c271d.jpg everything i just wrote was deleted so here is an abridged version of that Saw lisa on the streets of chicago, when i realized and turned back(to propose) it was too late but she had a camera crew following her so maybe we can expect a live dvd it was great to see lisa solo again but this wasn't her venue or maybe i was just too far back but i think smaller venues suit her better because i noticed that when i saw her with damien in bigger venues, that her voice can get drowned out by the crowd talking and the echo if the drums and bass and the beautiful auditorium theatre echoes like a mother Favorites chicago song....she said the wrote it after she played Martyrs in february, which was one of my favorite shows ever (with the low anthem, if havent heard them yet please go buy oh my god, charlie darwin, they will be huge one day soon). its not called the chicago song, but it is the first city she mentions amongst various other N. American cities... it was just lisa and a mandolin with a very light bass line and scratch drum.....its good Teeth...this is such a great song and i love when lisa jams and gets loud if this were how all her songs were she could play arenas ( you can tell she is jamming when she is slamming her foot on the ground new song#2... very cool... from some research i think it was droney drummy but i cannot be sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwMsL...eature=related pistachio.... another loud song i like when she releases her voice and gets passionate personal jesus... i saw depeche at lollapalooza and it was great lisa's version of personal jesus was better (ok, i'm biased) she played a indian lookin violin that the tapped the strings with a bow and then jammed it out... very punk this showed just ingrained in me what i already knew, i love lisa hannigan also david gray was great, every time i see him it is completely different Fugitive Sail Away Jackdaw First Chance Life In Slow Motion Nemesis This Years Love As I'm Leaving Breathe The One I Love Be Mine You're the World to Me Stella The Artist Please Forgive Me Encore: Ain't No Love Babylon The Other Side highlights: as i'm leaving, please forgive me, ain't no love, slow motion, other side, babylon, be mine, nemesis |

"an indian lookin violin that the tapped the strings with a bow and then jammed it out... very punk"... I couldn't think of what that instrument was called either, after I saw her in NYC. When I showed my very musical aunt my photos from the concert and interview, she knew right away: It's a dulcimer. First the mandolin on "Passenger," now the dulcimer... Lisa's really expanding her repertoire!
Thanks for the review, and for the youtube link. That's the encore song from NY that I couldn't remember! There's one little piece of melody in there that reminds me of "Passenger" for a bit, but otherwise it is a great song all on it's own. I'm definitely getting anxious for her followup record! |

a) how often have i posted about lisa?? answer: never b) how often I have posted about sir david answer: like a zillion times c) so what do you think I was talking about? answer: the fact that you listed one song of your favorites out of all songs on the DTL cd that were played - that is a relatively new cd me thinks............. wow - and please don't give the excuse of the thread title - you opened the door by posting the set list and favs............. but in the spirit of the conversation............you really need to chill Last edited by davidcotyalex; 10-31-2009 at 02:06 AM. |
