"Know" - because food diserves better.
PenguinBoy's xmas eve winges - Episode 2
has anyone else seen the "knorr" advert? it takes the piss out of charity advertising. i feel totally offended by it on behalf of oxfam and the like. When a food comany desides to ridicule their hard work, for a meaningless ad campagn and anulling the validity of other's suffering just for a strategic joke. a little information

well there's a few of them, it's a big campagn
the one i just saw, starts off with an image of an old shrivveled mushroom in a fridge and the voice over sais "mushrooms, shouldn't have to suffer like this". "with you're help we can give these vegitables the future they never dreamt of." "by pledging just a few pounds every month, you could make a difference" "please, they're relying on you" "you could make a difference" "knorr- because food deserves better" and stuff allong those lines.

that's disgusting, you could start a boycott. with their contact information you can get people to email them or call them to complain about that

I agree, Penguin Boy! I've seen the one featuring brussels sprouts several times over the last few days; It's horribly flippant in its imitation of a serious message... Darn shallow soulless advertising...

Absolutely. Gawd, if that's they want, go off and satarise British politics. Plenty of material there, for anyone who wants to create an absurd campaign to draw consumers towards pre-packaged frozen Knorr dining delights...or whatever it is they're promoting. 'Dinners of mass digestion' perchance?

Jesus i am glad i aint like you lot and can take a joke. I am pretty sure its not there to take the piss out of staving children it just is what it is. We cant change what goes on in other countries so dont spend you're own life worrying. Do you think if them starvin children had a 2nd chance they would waste it worryin about everything else. Dont waste what you have been given.

Tbh it never even occured to me that I "should" be offended when I first saw it. It's just another ad...

and if there making fun at anything its the amount of adverts there are to help other people. If people wanna help other people let them find out how to do it without having every other advert about it.

i don't like ricky gervais, so, bad argument lol... i got no problem with u thinking it's fine, it's just that the advert really i think undermines charity. I can't say that i'd never consider cracking a risqué gag, but broadcasting it to the masses and publicly rideculing pain and suffering of others. i find that hurtful, and difficult to laugh off. can't change reactions, cause they're not conciously decided, and my reaction was hurt. I couldn't laugh my hurt off, in the same way that starving kids can't laugh theirs off.
Though i take ur point, a sense of humour is very important, however when humour is laced with criticism, it becomes somewhat bittersweet. u get where i'm coming from?

i dont like it either, i didn't get insulted that it rips the beep off charity, that is annoying but the thing that bothers me most, is the fact that they advertise all these poor vegetables that you could give a better future and stuff, now, answer me this, is DROWNING the poor vegetables in mingin stock a better future? i certainly dont think so. so i reckon, if you're going to make a risque ad like that, it should be done properly, with no contradictions.
