Next Friday, Damien will be performing at the World Cafe Live from 12:00-12:45. Go to:
http://www.publicradiomail.org/wxpn/...15/details.tcl to sign up. (edited now - this link will work regardless of whether you are a member or not) I'm so excited to see him twice in one day! Last edited by Scrappygrrl; 12-07-2006 at 07:29 PM. |

Ditto. I've looked on every site that even links or mentions World cafe and there's not even a whisper of Damo. Just tell me where to email to request my ticket to the super secret concert and I guess we'll all be the first ones (as well we faithful should)!
Edit: I called the station. The only people who get tickets right now are members of the station which requires that you pay 50.00 a year for the right to get them before anyone else. She confirmed for me that he will be playing there on the 15th but said that it won't be posted for us to get them on the website until at least 2pm tomorrow. Edit: Oops too late Emmett. I already followed the link and reserved a ticket (which it lets you do with your own name/email) and then tells you you're allowed to send it to your friends so actually maybe it doesn't matter who the link was sent to after all. However it says in the email that although your name is confirmed on their list or whatever you still aren't guaranteed entrance (I guess there are no physical tickets) because they overbook so get there early.

Sorry - this link should work:
[LINK REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATOR - I THINK THIS PAGE IS JUST YOUR INVITE, NOT MEANT FOR OTHERS] I clicked a link from within the member e-mail I was sent - I thought it would be easy to find on the XPN website but clearly not! Last edited by administrator; 12-07-2006 at 07:03 PM. |

I was actually forwarded the e-mail from someone who is a member. Her page said "If you are not Cara Lastname, please click here" and it gave me the "generic" link that I posted here and where I signed up - it didn't ask me for membership information or anything. We'll see. I hope I got in - it said I did!
So this link is a generic link - no private information is there. Can I repost it for others? Not sure if this is a loophole or what but we'll see. I'll be there nice and early to make sure that I get in!!!! Last edited by Scrappygrrl; 12-07-2006 at 07:33 PM. Reason: added a side note |

You're OK Spamlet - no worries - it was a generic link. Hope I see you there!
I plan on getting there early (first I have to find someone to watch the baby though!) |

Right on, Scrappy! Thanks for giving us the advance heads up. As I said, Emmett. It clearly tells you you can put in your own name and encourages you to send the link to several friends so I think folks should be able to use it here.

I know, Wheels & I appreciate it!
I edited my original post so that it has the link that works. If they are doing it downstairs at the cafe the capacity is 650 standing, so it's not super intimate but definitely smaller than the Tower that night. I'm wondering how early i should get there... |

Phila friends
It's the Free At Noon Concert. You can also access it on the "shortcuts" pulldown menu on the left of the xpn.org website.

So you know
Every Friday, XPN and Wold Cafe Live hold a free at noon concert. The show is open to anyone who wants to go up to the limits of the venue (700) The show last from 25 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the artist. After the live broadcast ( www.xpn.org ) some artist stay and play a few more songs.
The show is now sold out. Parking at this time of day at the station sucks, but if you are coming in for the noon show and also staying for the show at the Tower that night here is a hint. If you are driving in from out of town, go right to Upper Darby and park your car in the lot behind the Tower. It is free during the day but you will pay $10.00 at night for the show, unless your car is already there. Take the El (1 block away) to 30th Street and walk 1 block to XPN. After the show hang around or shop in town and then take the El back to 69th Street for the night show. The EL cost $3.50 RT and you will not have to find a place to park near XPN.

Nice one Murphusa... Not helpful to me over here in Ireland... but sounds like a great tip for anyone going to the shows!
