I thought I would introduce myself to all you lovlies. I'm a 19 year old geek-girl from Nowhere'sville, Alabama. (Also known as Fort Payne, Alabama.) My name is, Taren. One day I was at the computer and the TV just happened to be on VH1. I wasn't really paying attention to it until this amazing song came on. I stoped whatever it was I was doing and stared in awe at the television. When the video ended I found out that it was "Damien Rice." I'd never heard of him before and I was lazy and didn't look him up. A few days passed and I still had "Volcano" stuck in my head. I caught the video a few more times on the TV and finally looked him up. Anyhow. I was rumaging through the CDs at Wal-Mart and I happened upon "O." I let out a little squeal of excitement (then looked around to see if anyone witnessed my dorkyness) bought the CD, then dashed to my car to listen to it. Blew my mind. I also enjoy long walks on the beach, quiet dinners... haha. Just kidding. Some other artists that I enjoy are: The Elms, Eisley, Radiohead, John Mayer, Led Zeppelin, Rooney, The Beatles (of course), Coldplay, Switchfoot, Johnny Cash, Matchbox Twenty, The People, Pink Floyd, The Who, The Doors, and many many more. Oh, and I've always wanted to go to Ireland. Questions? Comments? Got Milk? [Edit.. darn homophones.]Edited by: theraindrops

hey hello welcome here, you're in good company. funny how everybody discovers damien. me i was in ireland last summer waiting for a bus in a small village near a musicshop where they played this wonderful cd with all kinds of irish artists. then there was this utterly beautiful number and i just had to ask what it was. it was damien. i didn't have the money to buy it at the moment so i did a couple of days later in another village. the whole cd was magnificant but damien stole my heart. back home i checked his website and found out that he would come over for a gig in amsterdam just a few weeks later (you can listen to it at www.fabchannel.com). so i went there with my friends and we were totally blown away by the concert. so now i'm a big big fan forever...

Heya there Taren. Three cheers for Vh1, that's where I discovered Damien too! I'm from Arizona, some other music that I enjoy includes Dave Matthews Band, Sarah McLachlan, Fiona Apple, Coldplay, Barenaked Ladies, Boyz II Men, John Butler Trio, Jars of Clay, etc etc etc, and I'm also getting into Jason Mraz some too. Oh and I just gotta say...southern accents rock. Welcome! --Mark

Why hello there miss Taren...welcome to the igloo. Yes, southern accents do rock as mark and Krystian so eloquently put it... As for damo, I heard of him thru MTV2...I tell ya it was serendipity (I hope I spelled that right). Saw him at Irving Plaza in NY and it was great...he and his bandmates got drunk (literally) on stage at the end of the show.A night to remember. Cheers, from your New Jersey Yankee! PS - I like your music choices
