"Stay"
So I just saw the film "Stay" With Ryan Gosling and Ewyan Mcgregor. First of all the movie was amazing. Literally one of the best I have seen in a very long time. An added bonus was "Cold Water" played over the ending credits. I heard the first note of it and turned to my buddy and said... "Damien." So in short go see the movie it was amazing.

oooh i want to see it so so so so so bad! My firend Breanna is head-over-heels obsessed with Ewan McGregor. And i think he's quite nice-looking, too. But a Damien song on top of it? Wow. i must go see it now. YAY! Thanks.

just watched this film on dvd.. it was very surreal and dreamlike and the soundtrack all the way through was this sort of old school trance/techno, so knowing cold water was supposed to be in it at some point i didn't know if it would fit.. but it did fit in beautifully with the end credits and the theme of the film itself..

here's a question, did the song cold water fit at all with the movie plot? I don't like it when they just put songs on movie soundtracks just to grab people, even if it's a good movie.
Also, I have never heard of this movie. When did it come out? |

2005 i guess? i thought the song fit very well with the plot.. which is about a young college student who tells his psychiatrist (ewan mcgregor) that he's going to kill himself in 3 days on his 21st birthday, and that the psychiatrist is the only one who can help him.. so he runs all over looking for him and trying to find clues as to the reason he wants to kill himself.. and then their identities and realities start to merge..
i won't give away the ending because i didn't see it coming, but i was distracted and may have to watch it again.. i haven't decided whether i liked it or not but it did almost make me cry at the end.. but yeah cold water fit brilliantly i thought. it was the only music with words at the very end credits and i thought after all of the surreal instrumental music throughout the soundtrack that it might be jarring or take away from the film, but it was perfectly placed and added to the emotional ending imo.. |

did the end surprise you? i thought ewan was fantastic in big fish! love that movie.. and trainspotting.. and moulin rouge, he can really sing! i didn't care for velvet goldmine (it sucked) but even in that terrible movie ewan pulled off a pretty impressive portrayal of "iggy" (with what he had to work with)

Trainspotting and Big Fish he was brilliant. Big Fish is one of my top 3 movies. It just hits me. I did like the ending of Stay. I'm in the process of watching it a 2nd time and probably a 3rd sometime tomorrow before I start summer work because this is obviously one of those I need to see all the clues that I didn't get the 1st time. It's really great movie.
