next step should be to ask Damo why the song ended up not being on MFFF?? and what are the plans for the song!

Also, it sounds like something I've heard before; I can't think of what, though. My friend said it reminds him of Mr. Bojangles. It reminds me of something from Grease. There might be copyright issues. I just love it, regardless. |

^don´t really see it, it sounds 100% Damo, if something, it reminds me of other Damo songs like The Box a bit
and I think it would have fit on MFFF perfectly, he could have added it as hidden track and would have been perfect imho

So He was saying, "What is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it? "It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and threw into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and THE BIRDS OF THE AIR NESTED IN ITS BRANCHES."
In other words...don't be greedy, love and be loved and the world will become a better place Btw - I wonder too why it wasn't on the album. Sure, there must be a reason, but if he had put it on the album, I'm sure few people would have thought "hey that's an odd one, it doesn't belong there with the others".

I think it is more like the Mustard Seed parable in the Bible than the Buddhist context. Interestingly, I think mustard seeds appear in Hindu, Jewish, and Islamic texts, as well.
But there is an interesting Buddhist context that is in the back story of young Kisa (the mother in the Buddhist story) and gold/ashes. |

I think it is very Damien lyrically, but very familiar too. Maybe it just reminds me of him. I don't think it sounds like Mr. Bojangles, but I hear something familiar. I thought it was "There are worse things..." or "hopelessly devoted...," (I know that sounds ridiculous) but maybe it's just the Box or something else by him. I think this song fits with the story he told the first time he played Long Long Way at Whelans about dreaming that he was about to die and he looked back at what he had achieved and what was important love/money

I wonder if he normally plays it in the key of E minor, or in a lower tuning cuz it doesent make any sense in Dm, when he goes from F to E to Dm...whereas he ussually uses the G to F# to Em ,then he could let the E bass note sound.. .reminds me how he originally played The Box in A, then switched to G which made more sense on the guitar
who cares tho |

They sound like the same chords to me. There are a couple parts (chord/progression-wise) that remind me a lot of No One Need Know.

I love the Irish pronunciation of 'careful' For a while I thought he was loosing his Irish a bit, after spending all that time abroad, but no. Oh, and I hear 'told' as well, but I was kind of expecting it to be 'taught', so i didn't trust my ears Last edited by carrroline; 07-30-2015 at 12:45 PM. |

I rescind my previous statement about Mustard Seeds not fitting. It would have been perfect after Long Long Way, but not produced like the others, in its raw recorded in his home kind of way, like at Red Rocks. Paring down the excess to find the true meaning and importance of things.
