Default Damien on Achtung Baby Covers Album

From the news page of EF...

Bono disclosed that Damien is one of a number of great artists to be included on an Achtung Baby covers album commissioned by Q magazine.

Damien has recorded U2’s “One” for the album, which will be made available to mark the 20th anniversary of Achtung Baby’s release.

Other artists on the album include Depeche Mode, Patti Smith and Jack White.

I think that "one" is the perfect song for Damien to cover. I think that he sang part of it at one of the more recent Christmas eve busking nights. No?

more info from NME.com:

Jack White, Depeche Mode, Patti Smith and Damien Rice have been lined up to cover U2 on a 20th anniversary tribute to the Irish band's 1991 LP 'Achtung Baby'.

The quartet have covered 'Love Is Blindness', 'So Cruel', 'Until The End Of The World' and 'One' respectively on the album, which has been commissioned by Q magazine.

Frontman Bono revealed details of the LP during a press conference to promote new U2 documentary From The Sky Down', which is opening the Toronto International Film Festival.

^^ Yes, I remember that too. Bono was fumbling and Damien corrected him.

The Fly would have been a much ballsier choice. I guess he wants to stay in his comfort zone.

Pretty cool honor that Damien got easily the biggest song off that album. Looking forward to hearing this.

i always intended to buy the magazine since I'm a bit of a U2 collector i heard the Jack White cover today which was, IMHO, just awful, even though I am a big fan of a great deal of his music.

Looking forward to the Depeche Mode cover as well.

it's featured today on the RS Argentina website as something like "the track of the day"

The cover of 'One' is awesome! By the way, who is the backing vocalist? It sounds like Lisa to me - if it's her, it's surprising.

who is the female doing backing vocals? is it vyv? since there´s a cello, it occurs to me that it might be her.

i haven´t noticed that damien changed the lyrics. he made it "self-referential" (by saying "i" insted of "you" all the time). i wonder why...
