Default How much of an impact on music has Damien had?

His songs have been on countless tv shows and movies. And he's clearly well respected and loved by both fans, critics and fellow musicians. And 0 i think is considered by most folks to be a masterpiece and modern classic.

but does he have an impact outside of that? Have their been many singer songwriters since he came to the fore, that have been influenced by him and his style? did the singer songwriter genre change after he came to the scene?

How much of an impact on music and culture has damien had?

He gave Lisa and Vyv to the world, that's his greatest contribution

people like David Gray first and then Damien opened a lot of doors for singer-songwriters... to the point that now it's even cool to buy albums from singer-songwriters... think Cohen, before last week none of his albums even made the top 60 in the US... if it wasn't for Damien/DG we wouldn't have people like Ed Sheeran (big Damo fan) or Paolo Nutini or (ehem) James Blunt

what I mean is that they're opening doors for others and that record companies put $$ into artists that previously they wouldn't care, hence many singer-songwriters can have contracts, release records etc... of course it also has caveats such as record companies creating fake singer-songwriters like James Blunt etc...

Nonsense. Were you unaware of James Blunt stopping WWIII all by himself?
