Does anyone know what he's actually saying at the "Ave Maria..." part?

I don't speak any latin, but some if it is clear enough. It sounds like this (words in red are just phonetics - the others i think i right). "Ave Maria dor-lay hose hosanna, key-vay Maria dor-ee hallelujuh" I guess that's Latin, and I don't speak any Latin. Edited by: Banjaxed

Listening very, very carefully, I'm not even sure it's all Latin....yes, in fact, I think it might be Spanish, but I couldn't swear to that. It's definitely not the Hail Mary, that much I know. Hmmm...

Well "A've Maria" means "Hail Mary" and "Hose hosanna" or "Jose hosanna" prob means "O Save Joseph" i know that's not much help, but there ya go.

Okay this has been bugging me so I tried to translate, it's definitely not the traditional Ave Maria... I found a Latin dictionary and it's not Latin, there's no word for "ave" in Latin, so I think that's actually Italian. Ave Maria (Hail Mary - Italian) Then I hear: Dol-lay or Dollin (language?) Jose Hosanna -->this is Hebrew and meansa cry of acclamation and adorationto the lord or something (tho there's disagreement on the meaning and origin of this word too)Jose has me stumped, unless it's meant jokingly... if you've heard the soundtrack to Jesus Christ Superstar "Hosanna, Hey-sanna, sanna, sanna, ho..." you know what I mean. Then: Qui te Maria (which I think is Spanish and came up as "here you Maria" for me) Then I hear: Bol-lay (B instead of D like Banjaxed, still no idea on what langauage it might be) Hallelujah (Hebrew again used to express praise, joy or thanks.) I also read somewhere the Ave Maria is hard to translate cos it was originally written in Shakespearian English then translated backinto Latin/Italian or something like that... I searched and there's other threads on this too going pretty far back but no one's come up with an actual translation yet. I'm just curious now! Maybe it wasthe Christian thread got me going... |
