From all the live recordings that are available of Damo and the band. Which 1 is your Fav and why???

Mine is the Gig he did at Vicar St on his birthday last year where he ended up throwing his bday cake all over Lisa during Cheers Darlin' Hilarious!!!!! Also he let a load of his mates comeon stageand do a song each, which waz nice 2 see....

the best one I've ever been to was in Chicago, IL at Schuba's Tavern in May, 2003. It was his first US tour and he toured alone. I started listening to him a few days before the show and I was completely blown away. it was a small, intimate venue (probably no more than 40 people) and it looked like he was having a great time.

you'd recomend schubas as a venue then??

i'm gonna be there on 9/11 and erin mckoewn is playing, thought i might go.

I have to agree with Ian. Vicar St was defo the best.
Belfast in Feb was the worst - over in an hour! He
hardly even spoke!

It was good when David Arnold got on Stage to play
keyboards.

Every song started with a 5 min explanation about
why he wrote it and what it was about.

Very funny too. How'd have thought Amie and Me, My
Yoke and I were about pleasuring himself!

Olympia gig in december 2002was probably my most memorable... it was his birthday and he played for hours until the olympia actually pulled the plug then he got his tiny like guitar and came out and sang a song for mic christopher... then eventually got dragged off and came out on the street and started busking[img]smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]

think you mean 2002 in the Olympia, or did he do the exact same thing on his 2003 birthday in vicar st?

I agree ... Olympia 7th Dec 2002 was my favourite gig that I've been to. Out of thelive recordingspnobles' 3rd May 2004 at Beacon NYC is excellent too. I love the version of Bjorks' Play Dead that he does.

she was a bit shocked at first, then she started scooping the cake (chocolate) out of her eyes with her fingers and throwing it back at him. after that, she went over and started rubbing it on his face and in his hair (i think, but that sounds kinda weird, maybe i imagined that! Schubas is one of the best venues in Chicago!!!!!!! Never seen a bad show there.

In terms of a recording I would go for either : 
 
2003-12-08 - The Warsaw, Brooklyn NY 
or 
2004-05-03 - Beacon Theater, New York City 
 
both recoprded by Mr. Nobles.....Keep up the good work mate!!![img]smileys/smiley20.gif[/img] 
 
 
and in terms of gigs I've been to.....now this may shock people, but either Witnness'02 or the last solo gig he did in Vicar St.[img]smileys/smiley3.gif[/img] I know some people here didnt like that show, but i thought it was class!!!

recordings, but the best show ive seen has to be bonnaroo and the
best live recording has to go to the union chapel show

definately agree with the bonnaroo show! First time i've ever seen him live. Me and my friends drove the 16 hours from Jersey to Tennessee mostly to see him (the dead and dylan of course) and was not let down!!!! I was BLOWN away emotionally. every song either made me cry, dance, or think.[img]smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

He played a fantastic little gig at the Red House in Togher's on New Year's Day the year before last

It was bloody fantastic, so intimate

Also, Union Chapel was a gem.........but bloody freezing!!

I have to agree that the Bonnaroo show was amazing. I was late getting there so it was the worst spot I had atone of his shows ( I am short so anyone in front of me blocks the view). The music and the vibe of the crowd more than made up for it.

ermmmm....well union chapel cause it is sooo well recorded and the version of songs are just cool!!

But all my bootlegs are good but one that does stand out is the last beacon theatre one he did.

05-03-2004 recorded by Mr Nobles has to be my favourite at the moment - the sound quality's just amazing... other than that, the favourite gig I've actually been to was the Valentines Day gig in Manchester this year... sh*te crowd, but it was still amazing.

My favorite gig ive seen was a paris show back in 2003. It was really great. The bonnaroo show, although at a festival, was really enjoyable also.
