I've no idea how it happened, only just noticed it, i guess i must've knocked it against somethin

its a big split where the top of the body joins with the side, and all along the edge (if that makes sense)

surely you would have noticed if you'd hit it hard enough to split it though? so is it split where the bits of wood join together? or is the wood itself split?

a few months into buying my first acoustic, i banged it real hard against my desk and chair, causing a foot long split in the back of the body. at first i was quite angry, but in time it passed, now i rarely think about it. just think that it adds character to your guitar, a certain mystic if you will

Yeah I guess, I'm a bit worried that if I carry on playing it it'll crack further. Would super-glueing it be a bad idea do u think?

Hmm im not sure...mine only spread a little, how long is the crack. i would just keep an eye on it, or show someone who knows more about guitars...its hard to judge if you cant see it.

hmm, i wish i could make a suggestion, but its hard to tell when you are not looking at it. if it was me i would just keep an eye on it and be careful...also where did you get it from, it might still be under warranty.

My guitar's broken as well

It gota knock on the way back from america...brand new guitar. I was well pissed, after spending soooooo much on it and being only to play it properly for like a day in Americabeforeit broke. I'm bringing it to some guy (Derek Nelson I think is his name) out near Marley Park. It'll cost a bomb probably but I hope it's covered on the auld travel insurance ! He's apparently really well known in those kind of circles so he should have it fixed in no time !

some guitars are structurally weak and thats what cases them to split...it was unlikely the strength of the knock that did it, rather where it got hit......on a fault line.....guitars can take a lot of punishment generally .....its just that where the grain in the wood was weak, urs split open....but it shouldnt really affect the sound quality if u glue it.....my uncle had a glen campbell recorder style guitar...an ovation...theyre notoriuis for splitting....but it still works ok

i sold my house and settled on a 1000 dollar takemine. was in a room full of martins and taylors, but honestly i thought the takemine sounded best. well, outside the 2000-3000 dollar range anyway...if i was going to spend that much i was going to get a lowden. im just not good enough for that yet. felt like it would insult the guitar gods.

hahaha. im glad to see you are happy with the guitar jay. im not a fan of taylors at all, and martins vary in my eyes. takamines are solid, im still waiting to purchase my next guitar, but the money is holding me back.
