Default 'Elephant' makes a Lisa reference?

"...you can't paint an elephant quite as good as she..."

Do you suppose this refers to Lisa. In the liner notes of 'O' it says (i believe) that Lisa painted the elephant in the booklet...

Really? I thought Damien did the artwork in that album? I'm not sure that line links to Lisa. I heard that most of the songs on 9 were written a long time ago.

Damien and Lisa did them, under the alias of 'Fred and Daisy.'

The Lisa/Elephant has been discussed before, because of the aforementioned line, and also the 'and she may rise, if I sing you down' - as Lisa does so often sit on the floor and then rise when it's time for her to sing with Damien... Also Elephant was one of the more recent ones out of the tracks on 9, and used to be called Blower's Daughter Part 2...

But tbh, it could be about anything, it's so easy to make things link in a particular way. There isn't much point in speculating, it doesn't matter either way.

curious, but ultimately, you are probably right. It is somewhat better not to know who (if anyone) is referred to in song...

Yep... Imagine if Blowers Daugter was about James Blunt.

Mayby do not refer to anybody at all...

There are so many 'she' in songs... most of the time it's written for people to think to the "she" they want to ...

Well my view is that Lisa drew the elephant because of the song, not that the song was written because she scribbled a nelly on his album cover. After all the lyrics of slow are printed on the 9 cover.

Then maybe I shouldn't shed light on the relationship between the song Delicate and Bertie Ahern...

I think that from all the artwork they put in singles & albums, the elephant that Lisa did for the Cannonball single is the most beautiful!!!! Sorri Damien

the artwork has been pretty much split between lisa and Damo, as far as i remember, Lisa did paint the elephant on o artwork, modelled on one in Dublin. true, we have elephant everywhere over here. they come for the rain aparently.
whether the song is about her, i really couldn't say.

hell, why not say, it's all about me.
by the way, is anyone else finding they are frowning more lately or is it just my frickin enormous workload? also, does anyone else suffer from wierd pursed mouth syndrome?
please advise

i don't know but i have unconcsiously clenched jaw syndrome and the occasional eye twitch, which i think are along the same lines as pursed mouth and frown lines.. i advise taking a vacation.. in fact we both should! how does hawaii sound? sitting on the beach drinking pina coladas... *daydreams*

otherwise i say indulge in large quantities of alcohol, chocolate or whatever your substance of choice and say **** it all

thanks, lauren. it's kind of an old/new one. i love vincent

also i just wanted to clarify that i'm not encouraging underage girls (which i believe you and rue are) to indulge in alcohol or anything else. just speaking metaphorically that everyone needs to cut loose and not worry sometimes. there, now that's cleared up

that said though, i still think a pina colada sounds good..

I was thinking more of screaming until I lose my voice while running around in a large, empty area shaking all the guilt, stress, worries away. I'd consider that a good way to vent, but I've never tried it.

I prefer the study of the starry night, but I like them both.
