Default parents at gigs

I'm 20 years old. Have any of you ever taken your parents to a damien show and how receptive are they if they weren't a fan before?

Reason why I ask is because I'm thinking of taking my mom with me to the Minneapolis gig but not sure how she would like it because its not exactly her kind of music....but I think she would still appreciate the music. not sure though.

well, i don´t know nothing about damien´s gigs, and don´t know your mom, for suere...
but, i think it´s gonna be great if you take her with you. i think doesn´t matter if it not "her kind of music"... share such an emotional and exciting momento with your mom, it has no price (my two cents).

i went to roxette´s concert (so many years ago)with my father and that was one of most amazing things we did together (lucky me, there are many more)

What types of music does she listen to these days? Does she attend many concerts? Seeing Damien play live is an entirely different experience than listening to his studio recordings, the band puts on a mesmerizing show, impossible not to appreciate their talent, thus she'd most likely enjoy herself immensely, and spend quality time with you.

i haven't taken my parents to a damien gig, but i took my son when he was 12 a few years back on the O tour.. it was his first gig and he really enjoyed it, even though these days all he listens to is death metal but we had a great time, and i'm really glad i took him along! i'm hoping it had a lasting impact on his musical taste and the metal thing is just a phase..

your mom sounds like she's cool and supportive and even if she isn't particularly into the music i can almost say for sure she would enjoy the experience! who knows, she may become a huge fan.. just the fact that you're so into damien would probably interest her enough to enjoy the gig and see what it is that you love about the music. i think it's very cool you have that kind of relationship with your mom!

tell her she won't be the only old lady there, maybe that will help convince her

i made my dad see him at bonnaroo and converted him into a true fan. next time i saw damien, he drove seperately and took my mom. it seems that parents... well, my parents... respond extremely well to damien!

I personally have seen parents be either way at a concert with their kid. I have seen some cool parents that are enjoying the concert. And I have seen parents that can't wait to get the heck out there. Keep in mind, a lot of these shows people like to go and have a few drinks, relax and enjoy the show. Sometimes parents don't like to see that at a concert. Good luck with your mom at the show.

i took my mom with me when he played in chicago with fiona apple. she really loved him (but really hated ms. apple). it was funny becuase i wasn;t sure how she would like it but after he was done she said, "man, i wish he could have played alot longer" - of course that was after quite a few of those fancy drinks in the guitar cups made with souther comfort).
but anyways, she has been to a few shows with me - we saw rem, radiohead, van morrison and a few others. always a fun time.

I went to one night of the 2 vicar st dates in august with my dad, he really enjoyed it...he didn't like having to stand though, the funny thing is I think that's the first standing Damien Rice gig I've been to.

Brought them to their first gig about 2 years ago... they've seen some amazing shows... Among others, they've seen U2, Coldplay, Death Cab, Franz Ferdinand, James Blunt (even got them an autographed setlist that night) ... Keane, oh and of course Damo (with Fiona). Not too shabby for an 11 & 13 year old! I'm a good mom!

I concur... but we must let the little ones learn for themselves, yes?

(besides, thankfully, they've outgrown that stage...)

that is pretty cool. my daughter begs me to take her to shows but being as she's only 6, i told her sha has to wait for a few years. however, my husband and i did take her to blues fest where she got to see buddy guy (she thought the fact that he played the guitar with his teeth was awesome!) in a few years i'll take her to shows and then a few years after that she'll not want to be caught dead with me because she'll want to be going with all her friends!!

My mother and my 14 year old sister went with me (I was 20) to the show at the Tower Theater back in '04. I wouldn't have wanted to share my first Damien experience with anyone else!!

although....this is because I do have the coolest mother ever
