new song - Under the Tongue
this was in the Other music section, but I thought to post it here cos no one seemed to be spotting it there...
this is the thread http://www.facebook.com/l/2303c;eski...ad.php?t=16259 Damien has a newie called UNDER THE TONGUE featured in a soundtrack album called Music of Ireland together with lots of Irish artists (Glen, Sinead, etc) The album is out Tomorrow (MARCH 2). For what I understand, you can buy the physical album only thru Barnes & Noble, while Amazon is the place to buy the download. and there is a 30 sec clip on Amazon already, which is too damn short

There's 30-sec clips in a bunch of places already, and I'd say they're all slightly different:
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ref=dm_dp_trk4 Music of Ireland: http://www.brickhousedirect.com/musicofireland.htm Barnes & Noble: http://music.barnesandnoble.com/sear...N=899225001097

It's so frustrating that you have to be in the US to buy anything from the Amazon mp3 store!

Lyrics, anyone?
Under the Tongue What are we doing here? Why have we come? Did we come for communion, Under the tongue? There's a lot There's a lot There's a lot to unfold In the dark In the dark There's a lot we don't show Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me cold What are you doing here Have you lost your way? Have you come to move close, dear? Is something to say? (?? not sure about this) Cause there's a lot There's a lot There's a lot that's untold This is not This is not This is not yours to hold Cause your love leaves me cold Cause your love leaves me cold Cause your love leaves me cold Cause your love What am I doing here? Is it something I've done? If it's time for confession, Then bring out the nun. There's a lot There's a lot There's a lot I don't know I forgot I forgot I forgot to let go, of your love Don't leave me cold Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me cold Your love leaves me cold (repeat ) I'm curious about the female vocals... I wonder who they belong to? And the backing male vocals (I'd like to think they're Tomo's but are they even in touch?) Last edited by srahman24; 03-02-2010 at 03:04 PM. |

Awesome! A CD about music in Ireland! And here's the real kick, you can't even buy the thing if you live in Ireland!

^they should really fix it. I think it's idiotic that you can only buy the download thru Amazon US and the physical thru B&N
^^I think this part could be: Have you come to move close, There is something to say?

I do prefer when Damien sings higher, bit too low in here imho, but I think it's an amazing song. Loving the lyrics too.
But I see this as a one-off song that's not gonna be on album 3. I reckon it might have written especially for this compilation... In fact I love all the newies we're getting recently. I think Damien is on top form. I do prefer What If I'm Wrong (Damien at his best) but this one is good too...

Thanks, good people!
I think those lyrics are all correct with two exceptions: First, I hear "So leave me cold" instead of "Don't leave me cold". Secondly, the line 'Is something to say' actually makes perfect sense if instead of with a question mark it ends with a period. Just as in the examples in the next stanzas ("This is not yours to hold" and "Then bring out the nun") it is not a continuation of the question in the line before it but rather a rebellious retort. Throughout the song he's both asking why they shouldn't be able to communicate what they really feel and challenging the notion that such emotions should make someone feel as guilty as if they've committed a sin and therefore need to beg forgiveness. I like this one a lot and was amazed at just how massive the trademark Damo build-up was this time. I'm apparently also the only one who loves it when Damo goes to the bottom of his register just as much as when he's at the top. There's something deeply primal and haunting which comes with that huskiness. They used to refer to only a select few Hollywood stars in the old days as possessing the necessary quality of "sex-threat" to play certain roles. I guess I'd describe it in him as the savage side of the wounded beast.

It sounds **** to me from the 30 second clip. I don't like Damien singing in that low register.

Edit: OK, apparently there are regional restrictions between UK and DK too, so it didn't work for me on amazon.co.uk after all

I don't think it's the crime of the century to post this song, it's only a single track and it's not like it's a charity album or anything.
Edit: link removed, fair point borneoman I think it's a great track, not a Damo classic by any means, but great all the same. Last edited by daavo; 03-03-2010 at 10:59 AM. |

^I'd stick to share via pm. Sharing mp3s of studio tracks is illegal and you could put Emmet in trouble
