Your favourite Damien's song from 'O', "B-Sides" and '9'
Ok, I really want to know what is your favourite song from his 3 albums, I think that my favourite song is "Older Chests", I love all of Damien's songs, but I think that this one is the best song, such A delicate song, and the music... so genius!
What's your favourite? and why? |

The best song from all 3 albums is definitely "The Professor" for me.
Off "9" and "O" individually it's really hard to choose.

My favorite song from Damo will always be 'Volcano'
the cello, his guitar, and their voices blending together especially at the end when they're singing "still too young" and "volcanoes melt you down" is just what music is all about. i can't put it any other way, volcano is just brilliant.

Well. Tough choice indeed.
But, Cold Water made me cry for about the first 10 times I ever listened to it. It's one of my all-time favourite songs. So, I'd say Cold Water. but, from "B-sides", I enjoy "Lonelily". I just find it easy to listen to, all the time. and "9".. umm, still not sure, but for the moment, it'll have to be Accidental Babies. The emotion is raw and heart-felt. It's brilliant.

Lonelily sounds a bit overproduced though, love the lyrics and would love to hear it live.
Think my fav track is probably The Professor...love the French at the end! |

Confused on the question
I'm confused as to what the question is, is it favorite song out of the the 3 albums (as in 1 song)? Or is it one from each?
My favorite is Elephant strictly going off of the recordings. Few songs, if any can top Accidental Babies live.

Well, I could go on and on about how it is almost impossible to choose just one, because ALL of the songs are so ****ing amazing, but to be honest: I do have an all time favorite and it's "Woman like a Man".
It's the song that really made me fall for Damo's music. I was listening to it non-stop. There is so much energy, so much emotion in it, it just casts an indescribable spell over you. Once it grips you, it never lets go. At least that was (and still is) my impression. And you (well, at least I) can listen to it in all kind of mood or situation. Aaaaah, I just love it! |

This is a hard choice for me as I have yet to hear a song that I don't really like so it is hard to say which one is my all time favorite.
On O my first favorite was Eskimo, I guess it was because I had never heard anything like it before and it just captivated my imagination however as time went on it changed quite a few times I depending on the state of my life at that time and of course this is a credit to Damien. Older Chests is a wonderful song and my own interpretation was this was aloft to do with his discontent with globalization around the world, I don't know if this is true or not but that is how I took it and I very much feel that bit. However by far my favorite is Cheers Darlin the way he sings it is so haunting and last summer when I was going through a very confusing relationship I find this song being repeated on my mp3 player on the bus into work. It is almost as if someone else understood what I was going through and being just 18 it was hard to talk to other people about it this song just kind of acted to remind me things were not so bad. I was devastated when I saw some people voted it as the weakest song on "O" So we go on to B-Sides a very fun "Album" I think, for me it would have to be Professor or Woman Like A Man. Professor is great in its own right but woman like a man blew me away, sung with so much anger and passion in my opinion and this is what makes it one of my all time favourate songs, I love it when he gets to the bit "****ed inside out" the way he gets it out is outstanding. And lastly to "9", they say the second album is always the hardest but I think Damien has done a outstanding job not that I ever doubted he would not do so. I have yet to acquire the album as I am receiving it as a Christmas gift however I found it to hard to wait and so I found a source and got hold of the mp3's and whacked them on, right or wrong I just could not wait and as I am getting it soon enough I did not see the harm but I would like the stress that if I was not going to receive or buy the album I would not have done so. Anyway because of this I don't think I can comment to much as you cant really tell which songs you love on a MP3 not until you blast it out on your CD player however I will make a attempt. On this album two songs that really get to me at the moment, Accidental Babies, just when he says it just really great. By far my favourate is Elephant a true master piece I listened to it for the first time on my MP3 player and was not aware that it was Blowers Daughter Part 2 but this song is class. I was sat down in my chair in the backroom and when he gets to the part "This has got stop" and from there after I was in goose pimples and blown away, I almost shouted at my mum as she tried talking to me at this moment and I did not want to miss the feeling that it was giving me truely amazing. Overall I would say Cheers Darling was my fave sorry if I kind of rattled on a bit its just not many people my age around here like Damien Rice that much and the ones that do I only see now and again so don't get much of a chance to explain why I love his music so much well not just him Lisa's to. Would have to say Cannonball, got a strong connection to it cos it was the first song I heard from Damien. Also I have listened to it over and over and I get a different message from it each time; for example the last line "its not hard to grow when you know that ya just dont know" I take that as a completely different meaning now to what I did when I first heard it.
