I have an album of there's "the distance to here" which is really cool, never seen them live though, not sure if they've toured in the uk if so i probably just didn't notice. The first and last songs on the album are really cool "dolphins cry" and something else can't remember what it's called.
Can't say i've really looked passed that album though, sometimes i think he sounds a little erm pretentious, not sure if thats the right word but maybe you know what i mean. |

nawwwwwwwww... ed'sa real cool guy. he's from my home state. i highly recommend any of the five other albums.. especially Throwing Copper, their second. glad you HAVE listened, though. You refer to the last song on that album.. that's Dance With You.. one of the several ballady love songs.. they're done so well. haha. thanks for the reply!

yes, we (Live fans) get that joke all the time, haha.. i could recommend a ton!! a few that you may have heard include: Throwing Copper 1. Lightning Crashes 2. Selling the Drama 3. I Alone 4. All Over You The Distance To Here 1. Run to The Water 2. The Dolphin's Cry Those are the songs that ever got decent radio play... if you want to start out with the more mainstream stuff, cille. I can give you my favorites, if you'd rather, though.

I loved live several years ago (about 1995?), but haven't listened to them lately. I saw them (when they were just starting to get popular) at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. The show was in a small place on campus and they were great. Someof my friendsthought the lead singer was a jerk, but he seemed ok to me. I agree that Throwing Copper is a great CD. |

that's not working for me, Alistair! i'm imagining it's Live playing with Adam singing along with Ed.. i saw a concert in which Ed came out and sang Hangin' Around with Adam (and the lead singer of Galactic ()). That was fun. (Edit: working now.. no right click necessary)Edited by: DamosFavEyes

absolutely love Live's music too. I didn't know they had a new album though, 'V' was the last thing I heard by them. they did a good MTV session too...
Have you heard Public Affection's "The Death of a Dictionary" that was the name of the band before they were called Live. I still remember the day I heard 'Throwing Copper'. Blown away by how good it was. Read some reviews and it got five stars in Kerrang so I said I'd check it out. It was the album that R.E.M. should have released in 1994! 'The Dam At Otter Creek' one of the best intros to any album, ever. yeah there seemed to be some 'pretention' around them especially when they re-worked videos for songs like 'Overcome' to include 9/11 footage. Ok, now I've got to go listen to some of the albums... Edited by: Loveless

Yeah, Loveless.. Dam at Otter Creek does freakin' rock as a cd intro.. i think the 9-11 video reworkings were done out of respect. i saw him perform Overcome on some late show, saying how the people really did take to the song, and how it ended up soooo perfect for the situation. how sad. that song is so sad. i still definitely wouldn't call it pretention, though. btw.. Cille!! PLEASE take a closer look at my username! i dont even know anybody named Dave!!! Also, Alistair, Great link.. i'm sure that's the same tour that i saw Live and CC together.. and Adam did the same thing (jumping out from a speaker mid-song) at my show. Everyone looks like they're having so much fun!! Gotta love the hugs and facial hair!Edited by: DamosFavEyes

yeah, i think since they'll probably never be a highly commercial band, the fans have to do a bit of persuing on their own. i'm not complaining, haha.

I didn't know Live had ever played Ireland, damn. But you're right I still wouldn't have gone to see them either.
"Throwing Copper" sold 5.7 million copies, I think that qualifies are commercial. (2003’s "Birds Of Pray" sold 188,384 copies.) ahem Bell X1 have played support to Bon Jovi too!

well, let's then, say.. currently commercial. haha. about the last two albums.. i'll give you that they aren't AS GOOD as the earlier stuff. but making you want to hurl??? come on.. lol. what i love is seeing each album evolve from the last, they're all quite different from one another. but as seperate entities, they are so coherent in message and in sound. and about bon jovi.. that really IS bizarre! i had no idea that happened, lol.
