Here's a challenge for you boys and girls. Maybe this topic has come up before, I don't know... but I was curious, if youhad to pick only ONE album as your all time favourite, which one would it be. In a few seconds I'll be breaking my own "rule", but what the hell. For me it's a tie between... *drum roll*................ Damien Rice's "O" - near perfection. I would swap Older Chests for The Blower's Daugher, Part 2, and throw out Silent Night. and Wilco's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" - no remarks here, I guess. This is as perfect as perfect goes. EDIT: I forgot the apostrophe in "Blower's" - for shame! No biggie, but veryannoying and frustrating for someone as anal retentive as I am. EDIT NUMERO 2: Nick Drake - Bryter Layter Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Damien Rice - OEdited by: hazey

ill list albums i continuously turn to. that might be the closest i can get damo- o....flawless elliott smith- (1) figure 8, (2) either/or...take you pick depending on the mood, however not always my favorite elliott albums, just probably the best artistically the beatles- sgt peppers, revolver...nothing i have to say death cab for cutie-transatlanticism jeff buckley-grace ...that is immediately off of the top of my head...i missed alot, im tired and cant think right now, but i had to respond. cheers

The Plague Monkeys "Surface Tension".
"The songs on 'The Plague Monkey's' debut album have such an ethereal, individual power that just doesn't happen by accident. Each element in the music never overstates itself and that is probably their greatest asset. Put all these elements together and it becomes evident that the songs are more than the sum of their parts - a rare gift that comes about thru' years of playing. Comparisons are odious but for some sort of reference try, 'Joni Mitchell' jamming on the Arctic Permafrost with the Velvet Underground. Singer Carol Keogh's vocal lines become part of the music, she is a song-writer in the truest sense of the word, and her thoughtful melodies remind one of the way Morrissey could transform a simple lyric by way of emphasis and unusual placement. A rare gift these days." Zeitgeist Magazine, 1998. Edited by: Loveless

Obviously..."O". Beautiful. Other than Damien...I have to go with....Ohhhhh man...Boys For Pele, Tori Amos. The many different layers of her voice and instruments...the energy....the rawness...Perfection. Although, I do believe that her new album, The Beekeeper, will possibly be even better. She sounds like an absolute angel in the leaks that I've heard.Edited by: Suede |
